HEY NOW, WATCH IT BUB!! No girl-driver-bashing, at least not while the cool chicks are on here!! I hate to say it, but it's not just "typical women drivers" doing the cell phone thing -- more often than not it's the men. Neither make good drivers and I'd like to personally pull each of them over and make a citizens' arrest!!!

I get totally ignored by both the men and the women, but I tend to understand, since my MINI is not here yet. I tend to get the "I am not looking at the nut in the nonMINI waving like an idiot" look.

Might I suggest a whip instead...

Well enough of this.. I'm off to my anger management class...

I try and wave at every Mini I see, but alas Houston drivers take offense and I usually get the one finger wave.

Pfft, yesterday I noticed in my mirror that an electric blue MINI with checkered roof and mirrors would soon be passing me. As soon as she passed, I waved and grinned and she just ZIPPED on by without anything. wtf. Oh well...

I always wave! I'm in Houston! So if you see a PW/PW R56 with a roof rack, you will see me waving.

There were more waves back when I had my R53.

I used to wave all the time, until I started to get a dirty look that says "uhhhh, do I know you?? Why are you waving at me??" It's because of those people that I stopped waving. Now, I'll just look at a Mini and if they make the first move to wave, I'll gladly return the wave right back at them.

I've found that women are more friendly when it comes to their Mini's and are much MUCH more likely to wave then the men.

Hey guys, there's a new "I WAVE" t-shirt! THis is the new link to a fellow NAM-ers company website. He does great work!

http://www.ubermini.com/32701.html

AND, last night a friend and I were driving in the MINI around Richmond (highway) and saw a silver MINI -- my friend had never really driven anywhere with me in the MINI before, so I carefully briefed her on the wave thing. Boy, did she get on board!! Instructed me to parallel the other MINI as long as it took for them to notice us (almost 5 min) and then waved her arm off!!! She was SO thrilled when they waved back. I think I've created a monster!

It was a slow week for waving here. Of the 6-7 MINIs we saw, we didn't catch a single return wave. We'll keep on waving. Maybe it was the 100 + temps.

Waste a wave

Maybe these MINI owners whom do not respond need to re-read their Cooper Contracts.

I still wave when another MINI is nearby. Although sometimes I always wonder if I passed a MINI and never notice it.

I then begin to feel bad for the driver in that MINI and they may start to think that I don't care about waving. I DON'T WANT THEM TO FEEL THAT WAY!

Waving isn't about reward. By waving you acknowledge them . . . and if you wave to me, thanks, I'll savoir it. It is like hitch-hiking. . . if you're doing it because you want a ride your into a bad time without human kindness. If you are doing it because you want to sit by the highway, right on! If you wave because you want someone to wave back you're on the wrong road. You'll have no more luck than if you use your turn signals because you want other people to use their turn signals. What, you don't believe in original sin?

I stopped waving because my arms get tired here in Miami. On my 10 minute commute, I will usually see about 8 to 10 minis on the road. In addition to that I pass about 5 or 6 parked minis. So, I gave it up. Plus with all of the mini congestion here, I still never got a return wave. I usually just try to play with other minis. I just pass one in a different lane, then slow down and see if they want to play.

The other day I found a black cabrio MC that was as bored as I was.

We got our first Mini to Mini wave the other night, it was fun! We could see the Mini coming down the road at us and I got my window down and waved while hubby winked the brights! The other Mini honked and flashed a turn signal, we had passed her and she wanted us to see! Here in NC its been brutally hot so cars are all windowed up and running a/c, I'll be flashing my lights or doing a quick double honk. Hope those are ok subs for the wave.

"Flashing" and "double honks" are suitable substitutes ("Suitable subs" for the military folks here) for waving in extreme weather, but when it cools down and is not raining a wave is a must!

We wave, always. My kids love it, 12 waves today ...10 returned waves but my son is convinced "the two" (non-wavers) never saw us.
