I just have to say a big thanks to Minious. He won a MINI car cover at the Ockt-cooperfest car show, much to my chagrin (I had most of my raffle tickets in for that). Anyway, I got a message from him a couple days after the show saying he really didn't think he'd ever use it, but knew that I wanted it.

Sooo... on Friday we met and he gave me his unwanted car cover!

This comes after receiving:
1. An unwanted (or more correctly, un-usable) Promini intake at the show.
2. A car cover for my M3 (just had to pay the shipping cost)
3. An offer to install the brake light mod in my car at the car show (which I forgot to get around to before the show ended).

And I've only had my car for about 6 weeks!

I know there has been some complaining in the recent past that the tone of MCO has "changed" and there has been some silly bickering, but I still think this is a great community, full of generous and friendly people and I, for one, am happy to be a part of it. You guys/gals are the best!

JGirl-- Sounds like you had a great event. I'll add that the MCO sponsors are the best!!! Helpful beyond reason!!!

God speed.

Oh, the intake is fine. It was unusable for the winner because he has a Cooper and it's an intake for an S.

You just live right-
Wonderful.
Trade or sell the intake-someone can always use it.
Have a great week and enjoy your car cover!

What is it about you that causes people to give you car covers? Be like a lion. Live life with pride and grab the lion's share with might and main.
Charles

P.S. I'm thinking about the decal. Will let you know.

I know Charles. I thought about you last week when I got the message about the MINI cover. Two car covers in less than a month! How funny is that?

Congratulations! I have noticed too that Mini people are very nice and courteous and good people in general  It is a pleasure to be part of such a group. Did I read you have two car covers? Are you using both? That must be one overprotected and loved mini

I think it is good karma coming around too. Robyn was generous in getting me a set of "eyes" like her's for so Mrs. Peel can still see when the bonnet is up. A woman of vision deserves good things

My thanks too, Robyn, for the positive post.

Hi Jerseygirl,

Are you going to get the third brake light mod done? If so, let me know, I'm interested in getting that done as well.

RaceCarDriver, I'm not sure what you mean by the "third brake light mod". I was talking about the common mod of making the unused rear foglights into brake lights.

There is the simple and inexpensive method of using a couple jumpers to achieve the effect OR the more expensive "rear foglight friendly brake mod" that lets you use the rear foglights as foglights apart from the brakes! I'd love to have the latter but I don't think the money is there right now. I have to do some research to see if the quick and easy method can be removed without harm, otherwise I'll hold out until I can do the more expensive/involved mod.

I think it is good karma coming around too. Robyn was generous in getting me a set of "eyes" like her's for so Mrs. Peel can still see when the bonnet is up.
inioway, did you ever get those eyes on Mrs. Peel? How did you make out? Any problems?

Robyn,

Must confess they aren't on yet. I've been pruning trees and then just too lazy afterwards. I will eventually send you a pic with both eyes open though.

Cool! I want to photoshop something together so the two cars are "looking" at each other.

Robyn - go to bed! Wotinell are you doing up at 3:10 in the morning? You're acting like you own a MINI or sumthin'. Oh, yeah you are a MINI owner! Nevermind.

Is this an indoor or outdoor cover that you got? I am curious whether one NEEDS an 'indoor' cover exclusively for a garaged car or whether the cheaper outdoor cover would be okay to use indoors. I know, it's a strange question, but I'm a strange person...

I got an outdoor cover, but I'm using it IN my garage. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would buy the indoor cover that MINI sells since it costs much more than the outdoor cover. Although I have to admit the indoor cover does look really cool.
