I was out playing in the rain and on the way home from work, I had gone on some back roads to get home. I pushed the MINI pretty hard in some tight turns and have a question for you all.

In going into the turn the front will start to wash out. then it seems like the back end will catch up to the front. Now when you start the turn and give it some gas it seems to corner better than if you just hold the gas steady. Can anyone out there tell me if you have felt the same thing while doing this?

When it is not raining and after looking both ways before you cross the street you can try it again with the DSC off and see how it feels. Should be a bit better. The CBC and EBD and ASC+T you cannot turn off.
Be safe.

That is odd that you would say that. I do not have DSC, but do have ASC. There is a switch marked ASC. When I turn it off it helped when starting off from a dead stop because the throttle would seem to bog unnecessarily when ASC was active. I recently did a Powerchip upgrade which smoothed out the torque curve and I find I can now leave the ASC turned on. I thought the folks that had the DSC and switched it off were turning off the ASC, which is the source of the problem getting good launches from a standing start.

>>Yes.
Thank for posting such an interesting link. This is my first FWD car and it's good to read about what I've been experiencing and learning by "trial and error".

It's just so much fun driving this car and going through the turns in it. I just wanted to know if anyone felt the same things I did when pushing the MINI in the turns. Now I want to know what it feels like with the DSC turned off.

You can turn off the ASC ( I think!!!!)
Try to push the Dsc button once, then hit it again! But hold for 10 seconds... it will turn off the ASC...
I did it on BMW e46 330ci
try it on mini and tell us how it is...

I do not have MINI yet......
so I can't try it...

In a MINI with no DSC, then ASC has a toggle switch and can be turned off.

In a MINI with DSC and ASC:
DSC (can be toggled on or off) and ASC+T (is passively on) see
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...c=16931&31

To read more about DSC and ASC +T see
http://www.bmw.co.za/Products/FIRST/Active/act-DSC.htm
and
http://www.britishminiclub.co.uk/mini/coopers.html
Look for the part on safety and DSC.

If you want to turn the ASC off.... try my way(push DSC button the second time and hold it for 10 sec !!!!!!)... IF it is work then it will do this:

DSC off -> turn on triangle with ! ligth
ASC off -> turn on ABS light

note that Anti lock brake system will work

I try this on my friend 330ci and punch hard on gas at 1st gear... and i got a fish tail

with ASC system the fish tail should be eliminated

then I do some serious brake and hear the ABS still kicks in...

I am pretty sure that you can turn off the ASC
but then again I couldn't try it...
