DIY for PS pump fan

Is there a DIY for the PS pump fan? My dealer told me mine is seized and needs replacement about 250.00. I am a new "used" owner of a '04 MCS. I bought it with 47k on it and am at about 48k now. He also told me my oil pan gasket was leaking and brakes are at about 3mm and would cost 1200.
Can anyone recommend a DIY for the PS fan and tell me what to expect on the break job, is the dealer just trying to make his numbers off my wallet?

Thanks in advance from a noob with buyers remorse

Well I don't have any idea on the fan but it doesn't look like it should be any big deal. Sounds like they probably quoted you about an hour labor for it, figuring the fan is probably around $100.

The brakes are easy and I have always done my own. I am actually about to do mine on my 04 MCS as mine are shot as well. I think brakes are one of the biggest rips when it comes to shops prices probably because of the risk of what happens if they fail.

PS fac is a piece of cake. Just locate the fan, once you do that there are two bolts holding it on and a power cable. Undo that stuff, put the new one in the same way you took the old one off and you are good to go.

There is a really good thread by one of our members, Octane Guy, on how to do the brakes. I just did a brake job for the first time of my life on this car and it was pretty easy. Here is the thread on how to do the fronts:https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...beginners.html

Before you replace the whole PS fan, it might just be bad bearings on the fan itself. There is a thread on here discussing that. It's only a $10 or so part.

DIY on PS fan

Thanks to all. Ya, I need to do the brakes myself it looks like.

On the PS FAn though, I don't even know where the thing is, I know it is 2 bolts and an electrical connector but don't know where to order it or anything. Can anyone help?

Sorry if it I was a bit vague. You are going to need to jack up the front of the car (USE JACK STANDS TO SUPPORT IT). The fan is right near your oil plug. Mossmini has a how to on there website for how to add there PS fan shroud (which for an 04 might be worth it). Conveniently it also describes how to remove the fan.

Here you go. https://www.mossmotors.com/graphics/...ns/100-060.pdf

We have seven links on our DIY section about power steering pumps/ fans/beaings repair and aftermarket sources that may help. In anticipation of this happening to us, I continue to search for all and any info on this subject and constantly update the site.

PS fan is an easy DIY as stated above. Local Stealer wanted $450 for the job, I got a OEM fan from Detroit Tuned for $150 and installed it myself in 10 minutes. You don't have to jack the car up if your arms are long enough.
