Brake Pad & Rotor Purchase

I'm looking to purchase brake pads and rotors for my 2005 mini cooper. Has anyone heard of Textar or Pagid Pads & Balo Rotors? I really don't have any prior experience with purchasing brake components.

Pads ($71.06 CAN Rear Set)

http://www.autopartsway.ca/autoparts...1666~241666~30

Rotors ($36.20 CAN Rear Set)

http://www.autopartsway.ca/autoparts...1660~241660~30

Or, maybe I should simply stick with the dealer / OEM parts? I'm trying to save a few dollars by doing my own maintenance and thought that I may be able to get a better price from an independent source? I'm going to try and check dealer pricing today.

Any suggestions on Pads & Rotors? CooperSport in Canada also carries pads (EBM Greenstuff & FerodDS2500) and rotors (Powerslot)?

Powerslot

I'm also curious as to why it's often cheaper to buy both front and back sets, sometimes substantially cheaper?? Example: Rear Powerslot rotor $216, FRONT & REAR Powerslot rotor $240? I've seen this on other sites with regards to pads as well. What's up with this?

Thanks in advance!

Since you are in Canada, and not a track or AX driver that CooperSport is a good deal. I'd call them and ask for a discount to buy all the rotors and pads ,EBC, from them. It never hurts to ask.

Thanks, I will inquire!

Do you think the EBC Greenstuff would be better quality and price than the dealer / OEM pads. I've heard both pros and cons over the EBC pads. The last I heard was that they wear out fast / faster?

Thanks again for your help!

We know the OEM pad is good for about 40-50K based on use. Some EBC drivers have had the same, but sometimes less and sometimes more. I think many people have used the EBC's for the lower dust, to just run them into the ground, because they really needed a pad with more stopping power.

I sell and run the Carbotech 1521 Bobcats and love them. much less dust then OEM and I think you would find them giving you 50K plus miles. However they do cost more then the above and shipping to Canada would be higher too.

Given all of the above info, I still think your daily driver would be fine with the setup from CooperSport.

Thanks. Just out of curiosity, how much would your pads run us Canadians (including estimated shipping, duties, tax, etc.). Have you sent any pads to Canada before? I did purchase my tires (goodyear eagle F1 D3) form tirerack a few weeks ago and I ended up saving money, even after the tax, duties, shipping, etc.

I'm also hoping to continue to use my brake pad sensors, do you know if the EBC and the Carbotech work with a sensor?

Cheers

I know the CT pads work with the OEM Sensor. What is your Postal Code?

Tire Rack also has great prices on rotors, both ATE slotted and oem Brembo rotors

spirit, I have asked CT for the shipping costs and will let you know via PM ASAP. I also have the TSW Rotors, but they are on back order at this time.
