R50/53 Can you feel it? Pulley change.
Can you feel it? Pulley change.
Can you folks that have changed the pulley on the SC actually feel it? or has anyone done a dyno back to back test? I would go for the more mild one if I did it...just some feedback from anyone who has just done a pulley would be great.
Do they look like stock or different? our insurance co's are insane about mods. ANY change and your car becomes "modified" and picks up a hefty surcharge. I could of course claim I never knew it was changed if something was to happen as I bought the car used.
cheers. Peter

Yes, it is felt right away and this is the best bang for the buck mod. 15 HP gain on all stock components and 25-35 HP with dyno tune (RMW), cat-back, CAI, 380 cc injectors. Unless you really peek very closely, it is hardly noticable but paint it black to disguise the pulley.
DO IT, DO IT
Def. my best mod. Confirmed by the butt dyno and made the car more drive-able. I seemed to loose the yo-yo at low speeds. It really made the car go from fun to really f-in' fun.

There are plenty of how-to threads on changing the pulley. As long as you follow the instruction given with the pulley, and use the removal tool correctly, you should have no problems.

As other pulley owners are chiming in- do it! I just had it done 5 days ago along with colder plugs. I also got a shorter belt Napa 539 belt is a good choice. You could do it yourself if you want but I'd recommend getting it professionally installed.
As for the size, I went 15% for a number of reasons. You really don't run the risk of running lean with a 15%, which you do with the 19% (assuming you are using stock injectors). The 15% is also plenty of umph! The heat created by the S/C spinning faster under the hood is definitely noticeable and I wouldn't want to have any more heat than whats already being produced now.
I went with the Alta V2 as well. I liked that the belt retainer is oversized and that it is black. If you leave the 'decorative end cap' off it looks sleek and hardly noticeable.

Ditto, 17% Alta/belt - Awesome power, and still have great gas mileage. Took out colder plugs for cooler New England weather and installed BOSCH Platinum 4's. Have 60,000 miles and no issues.
