New 05 MCSa coming my way-question

anything on this model/year I should know before final purchase? Is the auto tranny have any problems? Is it a 5 or 6 speed? the car is a 6/05 build. Getting an auto because of heavy traffic. Have not had a mini for 4 months and regretted it!
thanks

Just turned over 20K with my wife's '05 MCSa this morning. No mechanical issues. As noted above, it is a 6 speed and has paddles on the steering column to manually shift with (if desired).

Thanks. I'm looking at a MCSa with sunroof, 17 wheels, xenon, dsc, climate for 19 ish. this is slightly below edmunds. Is this a reasonable deal? Check is in hand, but have not bought used in looong time.
thx

I have not had any problems with mine, except i keep adding mods to it. It gets to be a habit.

Check autotrader for your ZIP code. Also check KBB wholesale. There are not as many MCSa as M/T MCS, so in a pinch, you might have to pay higher than Edmunds/Autotrader/KBB. If you are at the low end of the three (Edmunds/Autotrader/KBB), you probably have a good deal. Your description sounds like it is well optioned. The panoramic sunroof is almost like driving a convertible. I would check for mushrooming (especially if the car has runflats on 17 inch wheels) of the strut towers and rust on the lower door seams under the rubber door waterseal (check the rust thread that is on NAM). My MCSa (3/05 build date) has been trouble free and a real blast to drive. Basically a street-legal gokart. Also, when the tranny is in SD (sport mode), you lose one of the 6 speeds (last overdrive (6th) gear).

No problems with mine, and it has really adopted well to my driving habits. I love it when I hit heavy traffic, I can just relax and turn up the tunes. Otherwise, I spend most of my time in SD and some in M.

Other half of the JCW conversion coming up this spring!

No problems with the tranny here. Only thing I've had is a broken door cable that was fixed (and will be again) under warranty. Think you'll really enjoy it.
