Pulsar Brake Light Fasher - Install
Hi Folk's
Can anyone point me to detailed instructions for installing the Pulsar Brake light Flasher Circuit Board to the top brake light on a Mini Cooper. The standar Spoiler will not allow complete removal of the light assembly after removing the screws.
The Spoiler is assembled to the hatchback door with (2) fasteners but the spoiler will not come off the door after removing the fasteners. How do I get it off?
Thanks

You don't need to remove the spoiler. The light unit was slightly stuck to the hatch (gasket) and I either pried one end loose with a small screwdriver. Or tapped on the torx screws when they were loose to break the seal. It's been a few months, as I recall it took a little maneuvering.
Now that it's darker when I go to work the Pulsar is more effective. It sure seems like others are stopping farther back.

Thanks to both replies today.
With the (3) screws removed my brake light is loose but will not allow extraction because of the spoiler interference. It reallywill not come out from under the spoiler recess.
Does anyone have experience of removiung a spoiler from a Mini Cooper (not the S model)
Thanks again

If you remove the two 10mm nuts on each side of the spoiler, you will be able to gently push up on the outside edge of the spoiler. This requires another person to assist you. While pushing up on the spoiler, have the other person slide the light out under the spoiler. The spoiler is attached around the entire edge with 3M body tape. When re-installing it is the reverse procedure. This is how the dealer also works on the third brake light. If you are installing our pulsar please feel free to give me a call, our toll free number is on our website and your receipt.
Have you got a picture of that install? I'd be interested in seeing that... much easier to remove if I wanted to remove it later.

Could you have a look and maybe post up some pictures?
Here we go. This is just a cheap pulsar my dad originally bought for his motorcycle.

Here is the wire that heads to the light. Yellow with a black tracer. The white wire is what comes from the pulsar. (the red wire with the black tracer and yellow dots is for the cigarette lighter in the back i think [its the same color as the wire for the front one])

Here is the side of the wire that provides power and heads into the pulsar.

Total install time was about 10 minutes. The wire that you have to work with is very thin and doesnt have much slack, so try to get it right the first time you cut and solder!

Thanks Some_Guy. So help me clarify a bit. You just cut the yellow wire and put one wire on the pulser to one side and the other side to the other end of the yellow wire. No other wire colors used?
From brake pedal---_______Yellow/Black_______ x____Pulsar In(Red)[____]PulsarOut(White/R)_____x___Yellow/Black____---to 3rd b-light

On the GoMINIGo Pulsar (which I assume this thread is in reference to) the Pulsar has +/- inputs/outputs. It looks like the motorcycle flasher you have only has one input/output ((+) I assume). Does it tap into a (-) as well? If so, which wire is the (-) to the light?

I think thats my confusion also. I put one of these in my Miata a few years ago and I don't think I was able to just cut one wire. I think I needed to use both wires. That car is long gone so I can't go out and reference it.
The one i used goes in line. So you only cut one wire and splice like this
Black/Yellow >pulsar> Black/Yellow
To me it looks like the GMG version switches both the POSITIVE and the NEGATIVE wires. Whereas the one i uses switches only the HOT wire. They both have the same effect they just do it different ways. If you are willing to experiment you could try just sticking the GMG unit in line with the POSITIVE wire and see what that does. I dont think doing that could do any harm.
BTW: I cant remember off the top of my head but i think there are two black and yellow wires, so choose wisely. (i think if you look though you may be able to trace the one that runs up to the third break light).

THANKS TO ALL WHO REPLIED TO MY ORIGINAL POST RE PULSAR BRAAKE LIGHT FLASHER. AFTER READING MINIROLLS COMMENTS I MANAGED TO GET THE SPOILER UP HIGH ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE BRAKE LIGHT AND INSTALL THE PULSAR UNIT FORM GOMINIGO. iT WORKS JUST FINE AND I TOO HAVE NOTICED THAT THE IDIOT DRIVERS WHO LIKE TO TAILGATE MINI'S ARE NOT FOLLOWING SO CLOSE.
