R50/53 The "Can't wait for October" club
Nope, I didnt belong to any
'can't wait club." I didnt' know any existed at the time. I have a friend at work whose wife has ordered one for November and we just sort of went looking around toy stores, looking through mags, collecting just about anything Mini related. Glad you're enjoying the wait. I think it was the Mini Owners Lounge that drove me crazy. If you call that a club, that is. Great site, but after months of checking my status on-line, it began to drive me mad.
But then I started reading about the Mini's past and that took my mind off it a little. You know, it's funny, the more I look at the old, or should I say the original Mini, the more I'd like one of those as well. I saw an S model going through Statesville, NC about several months ago. Don't know what year it was. Red/white stripes/white roof. Very tiny though. The new Mini is so much bigger. But the guy inside looked happy as a clam.

Hey Jake,
I agree with you about the Owners Lounge. It's ridiculous. In today's day and age, if you have a site like that, that's supposed to keep you posted on the progress of your order, it should be totally and completely up to date. It wouldn't even be that hard to do. Several people on this website would be great for the job, and I know a few programmers who could probably program an automatic update system in a matter of days, if not hours.
Oh yeah, and since you're lurking here, how's the car treating you?

I am scheduled to move onto SC..the wait is getting really hard now, especially today when my car cover/lock/MINI Parking sign/Racing stripes and sticker arrived! (not to mention all the other stuff I already have waiting) Congrats to everyone who gets to have theirs sooner via the NY route!
>>The Jingu Maru is scheduled to arrive to NYC tomorrow morning! Who is scheduled to be discharged there?

Now that I dont have any updates to give until I get put on the TANABATA and it sails I thought I'd share a picture with you guys that I found over on MINI2. It looks exactly like mine, except those rims are none other than chrwilliams BBS RGRs (that he is supposed to be getting on friday if I remember right).
(lets try it without the stupid thumbnail) (glad I found the edit button, once again...) (oh well, fine you stupid thing, heres the thumbnailed, make sure to click it to see who you're MINI is partying with, dont worry, he's laid back and doesnt like to fight, since he's got the HK and the new OutKast CD he's gonna provide the music)

(ha, got you un thumbnailed!)
I have nothing to do today after class except check on the TANABATA, so when I get back at 1130am you had better post a bunch of interesting stuff for me to read, otherwise I'll just play Homeworld 2 and Battlefield 1942.

Muha ha!
Upon closer inspection of "THE LIST" one should note that a "Ryephile" is still 112, and no my friend, not the R&B group, the production status code! At least you're not 10/10 though.
It's ok though, someone has to be there till the end to keep everything updated, if you were already on the JINGU MARU and had your car then who would update the site? So the "MINI god" had purpose in mind when he moved u to the back (that or it was punishment for wrecking Mr. Motor). I shouldnt be friendily (?) putting you down as I sit here in my 11x11 dorm (more like 8x8 because of the beds) opening my canned soup du jour (damn spilt on the desk and mouse! I wish I was 5'10 instead of 6'3 maybe then my nerves would reach all over and I might have some coordination and stability in my hands!), especially considering I'll only get a Saturday and Sunday with my MCS until Thanksgiving break!
And so this post has gone from one handed typing (chips and dip mind you!) of a joke/friendly reality check to a still one handed (chips and dip!) thank you!
From me at least and hopefully all, THANK YOU for keeping me sane!
Bryan
PS
Dont you just hate breaking that chp off in the dip having to dig it out, covering your fingers in dip, and then eating it only to spoil you're taste because there was dip enough for the whole bag on that one chip. Right then...
Excuse me while I brag about the only thing I can, I have to go talk to my girlfriend.

Just called ASK-MINI to see what they can tell me about my car.
The lady said its latest status is "work order printed" on 9/17; that's two days ago when it was offloaded from the ship. It has not been released from the VPC yet.
My BMW threw a jealous fit last night by eating my key. (Hey Ryan, did you ever have this problem with your previous BMW?) Basically the key is really tricky to turn, and most people have a hard time starting my car. Last night I changed one of the brake lamp light bulbs, and asked a friend to turn the key and step on the brake. Well, the key then got stuck in the ignition cylinder. At the time it seems that my only option was to get the car towed to a mechanic, and they have to drill the ignition cylinder out. I am supposed to show my car today to a buyer, and this happens. Needless to say I was REALLY stressed out.
My friend then said.... BMW's ignition switch sucks..... I can never start your car. I hope the MINI has an improved switch..... Well, based on what I remembered on the test drive, MINI has the exact same switch. Oh well what can I do right?! I hope in 5 years our keys don't get stuck in the ignition cylinder.
So..... I solve all BMW problems by going online. If any problem occurs on my car, someone out there must have reported a similar issue. Sure enough, I found lots of posts about ignition cylinder problems. One guy said the dealer told him the only way out without getting a tow and having it drilled out is to try to turn with A LOT of force. Well, if the key is to be drilled out, it is all messed up anyway, so I might as well give that a shot. It was a good way to let off my frustration anyway. And giving it all I have, sure enough the key got free.
I just emailed my MA my Car memory selections, and he replied back in 10 minutes. I am impressed by this. Maybe it is a slow day at the dealership.........
Alright enough rambling from me for the day, you all have a nice afternoon!

Hey Rye...
You got me listed twice on the CWFO updates. Once on the Tai Shan and once under "sailing away". I am sure it's no biggie, but it may save you a little bit of typing. The Tai Shan is the current/updated one.

Alright, I've mostly been lurking around here, but my Mini has been hanging out with yours for the last month.
I see from the WW site that I was also released on 9/17. When I called AskMini today, they basically said they could not really tell me anything from this point forward -- call the dealer.
How do you know you haven't been released from the VPC?? Owners lounge? That has been running way behind for me.
Dealer in Philly says that they usually get deliveries at end of month. But I saw other guestimates of a week from arrival at port to delivery from dealer. That would make me a happy camper with a Wednesday delivery.
Any way to track in more detail at this point?
