Just purchased a solid used 2003 R53. Is there an option sticker in the car to tell you what options it has? My Porsche has a sticker with option codes which convert over.
Does Mini do the same?
I'd love to know if the car came with LSD (limited slip).

Hmmm, I don't know, actually, but I can tell you that LSD wasn't available in 2003, so you don't have it. I'd have bought it with mine if it was around then.

 

Contact your local MINI dealership and ask to speak to a service manager...when you provide your VIN #, they'll be able to access the MINIUSA site and will be able to see the packages/options on your MINI, as well as service history.

Not sure if a phone call to MINIUSA would help.

 

You can also email MINI.Assistance@askminiusa.com with your VIN and they can tell you what packages it was manufactured with.
As noted, no LSD in 2003 - they became available in 2005.

Have the VIN handy. Thats all they need. They will tell you the packages, where the car has been serviced (but not what was done), and how much (if any) warranty is left.

 

so whats the difference between lsd and dsc exactly?

 

LSD = Limited Slip Differential.

DSC = Dynamic Stability Control.

Two completely unrelated things. One is a mechanical piece, the other is web if wires and sensors to control some mechanical pieces.

 

LSD is for more fun. DSC is a nanny system for you and the car.

 

I emailed *and* called, figured it didn't hurt to try both, and was told by both that they no longer provided the package information. Looks like it is time to call a dealer!

 

Interesting, I called the other day with the VIN # of a used Mini and they gave me all the deatils including the in service date and location.
