Blown Engine!!-UPDATE

Hey everyone! Ive got an update to my last thread

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=103426

For those that have read it, here you go!

I have gone to my dealership and demanded that they at least try and get a little help from Mini USA. They just got back to me with a pretty generous offer. Total, it would cost $13000.00 to get a new engine (long block), clutch, and supercharger. Mini USA offered to cover HALF of the cost! So basically we're looking at $5500.00 out the door with a new installed engine, supercharger and clutch. I have given them the GO and should get my car back within a week.

Thanks to everyone for the support!!

Congratulations Mike! I'm sure your math error is a simple oversight. Glad to hear the BMW Group is stepping up to the plate for you. That's a good sign for all of us as owners.

Best regards, and good luck!

God, this sound all too familiar... Back in 2005 at 30000 miles, Mini told me to Pack Sand, and pay for my motor, because I didnt get the oil changed in 15 months. I was going by the indicator, and i was still 300 miles away from service when the number 1 bearing died from oil starvation. Everytime i called for service, i was told it was the milage inicator, never about the time. So for me, they gave me "warrenty pricing" on the parts and labor. They quoted 5000 for the short block, and 7000 for the long block. So i paid 10000 and got the short block, and the JCW kit.

Bottom line. I love my car. I hate MINIusa and BMW NA

That's a pretty standard deal. One of our club members had the same thing happen to her and Universal gave the same deal after much prodding. The sad things is that LB MINI is where she bought her '05 MINI and had it last serviced, and her engine ran out of oil because the oil cap hadn't been replaced--yet they wouldn't offer any type of deal. Took over a year of additional service visits--oil leaks and a tranny replacement I believe which Universal copped up to before things got settled.

Glad your dealer helped you out favorably.
