R50/53 Velvet Red in 2004 Cooper S?
From my knowledge VR will never be availble as a MCS color.
>>Since MINI has unofficially acknowledged the availability of Pepper White in the '04 MCS I was wondering about the possibility of Velvet Red to be added as well?

No thank you.

If Velvet Red was available on the MCS, I'd seriously think about placing an order. And if it was available with the Cordoba Beige leather interior, I wouldn't have to think about it anymore!

I think Velvet Red could be a good selling color if Mini played a little with the color tone. Somehow the actual color doesn´t look very attractive, they should try darker, lighter, more red, mored dark, metallic and non-metallic combinations until they reach a nice color.
It´s kind of the same problem with BRG. Some people don´t like it because it is too dark and metallic.

Mexminime,
You're right on about the BRG. Green is my favorite color, but the shade MINI uses looks really dark, almost black, from a lot of angles. It only really pops in direct light.
Since we're on the topic, I'm starting to think that a lot of the color options for the MINI suck. Indi Blue and BRG are darker than they should be, and even the red has a weird darkness to it. The dark silver and the black are sharp, but they don't exactly scream "fun." And the new gold color, based on my own HO and what I've read here, is a joke. Why don't they just make simple colors for a simple, back to the basics car? How about Green, Blue, Red, Yellow, White and Black? And they can keep the silver, dark silver and electric blue for those so inclined.
Don't mean to go off here, but I'm in a quandry about what color to order, and none of them seem totally right to me. I'm thinking about black at this point, but I don't really want a black car.

I agree with your assesment. I think the current MINI color palette while nice suffers from colors not fully tuned. I think VW has nicer colors available than MINI for their new Beetle (I car otherwise I don't give a crap about).
I think the silvers are OK if you want a more elegant, understated color combination that will wear fine with time. Pepper white is very nice but not for everyone (The day of the local Itialian Job Screening ours was the only Pepper White in attendance). I think the Chili Red could be a bit brighter as well. Velvet Red is a nice color but too dark under certain light conditions, BRG is not real BRG, Indy Blue I have warmed more to it, Electric Blue is nice but it seems that every MCS comes in this color, Yellow is too pale, Silk Green looks good from a distance but kinda weird after a while, Black will always be black, etc, etc.
I would like to see the colors more fine tuned and a few more "Reflex" type colors a la VW.

Yeah, the BRG is more of a Hunter green than I'd hoped. It's not true "British Racing" green at any rate. However, I like the fact that it "appears" almost black in certain light and really pops in direct sunlight - I find this chameleonesque feature appealling and quite a few window nose printers have remarked about the interesting color.
Time for a Peterman Catalog quote:
"The metallic properties pick up reflections from the sky and earth bringing gold and blue sparkles to the surface as Moneypenny, the BRGMCS, knifes through the arid South Nevada desert at 112 mph on I-15 south. One wonders if they are seeing a mirage..."
