To ALL us Cradle fanatics !
Just received an email from the Parts Manager who has been very patient with me as we have ordered & tried (3) separate cradles for the (I Phone 4).
Fred,
This is some new info on the snap in adaptor for you MINI. I was not aware there was that big a difference between the vehicles in this situation.
Thank you,

I have a customer with a 2011 MINI Countryman (vin ######) and he has an iphone 4 and was looking for a snap adapter. Based on the BMW his vehicle would require the 84-21-2-218-390-02 media version adapter. I got this part for him even though it is BMW and there are problems with it. It will not display the cover art and it will not do video playback. Is there something that I am missing? Or will this not work in a MINI?
Thank you,

Hi, I didn’t see a bulletin for the MINIs… it’s not for MINIs.

No, this iPhone4 media snap in adapter is not for MINI vehicles.
There will be new number for MINI SIA but they will not be available until summer.
In the meantime the customer should use the video/usb cable
61 12 2 179 623. This will give all of the needed compatibility with his iPhone4 including cover art and video playback.
So I guess it's at least a few more months..before the correct cradle for Mini is available. Thought those following the news and the cradle (specifically for the I phone 4 only) would be interested in reading.

I'm looking for the smilies icon that's a MINI logo with a big, stinkin' turd on top of it.
BMW sold me the last one I bought with the emphatic emphaisis that this one would not be returnable. So, what's a couple of hundred more bucks when the new one comes out? I've already tapped out my dog's kibble fund.

Well...had a long awaited day off....since part of the rail system was loose and apart as I'm refinishing some of the plastic pieces, I started to look more at the armrest and what it would take to move it back a few inches to give more room for rail items between the e-brake and the armrest where it is now.
A few hours later...the armrest that houses the the correct cradle is out and the rail is back in. I'll post a few pics later. I actually don't miss the armrest as I drove most of yesterday...except for the little storage it had. I could widen and lengthen the slot in the rail where the harness from the cradle runs trought the bottom of the rest through the rail. As hoped they all connected under the plastic cover that houses the plugin for powering up accessories. I'll see what it might take to remove the base from the armrest that someday might house the I phone cradle 4. Would like to possibly mount the armrest on a base that fits for the rail...be able to move/slide it as needed. There will be more room in the arm once the cradle base is removed

Sorry. Posting from my IPad. So I will see how it might be to mount the armrest on some type of movable/slider. Maybe be do the same with the cradle base as there will be plenty of room between the e-brake and where ever the armrest ends up...if it evens ends up back on the rail. If so should be more room for storing misc. Pens, keys, change eg without scratching the I phone. So much for the "needed armrest that houses the base for the non-existing cradle".

I'm seeing the same thing. iOS5 seems to have broken that dependency on the cradle...
