You can buy the AUx adapter from places like: www.outmotoring.com. With out that the only other way is wirless (which sucks) or through the Antenna

+1 - you have to buy an adapter - depending on how you route the cable it can be as quick to install as 15 minutes. You could also buy a Soundgate adapter and use the CD changer plug in the boot.

OEM adapter at the Dealer is about $40, you don't have to pull the radio to connect it, although that would make it easier. It's a 1/8" diameter jack so any earphone style cable should work to do the hard wire.

Do a search for Aux Jack, there will be lots of info

This is what you need:

Auxiliary Audio Input - MINI Cooper
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=662

This will get you an AUX connection for your portable Sirius receiver.

hmmmm, interesting, I've always been told that the radio is completely "satellite" ready. Which means there's already a jack in the back of the radio to accomodate for satellite.

Not really, it means the radio is compatible with MINI's Sirius tuner.

There's nothing wrong with the satellite radios that broadcast to your "in car" radio. For cryin out loud you're riding in a MINI not a Maybach!

Actually, that really depends on where you live. For example, in Southern California, there is a station broadcasting on almost every assigned frequency. Pair that with the generally poor FM reception of the MINI receiver and this makes getting an FM modulator to work well very difficult. Besides that, an aux input adapter for a mini is probably cheaper than all but the worst FM modulators out there.

It's really worth it to get the aux adapter (part number in previous posts), plug it into the back of the MINI radio, then plug the satellite receiver into the adapter (using a male to male stereo cable). Many larger cities have lots of radio stations so there are fewer unused FM frequencies available. Also, when you're on a road trip, you'll be travelling from one FM coverage area to another. This forces you to look for another unused station because you have driven into another coverage area and encounterd an FM station broadcasting on your previously unused frequency. You don't have to mount (drill) the female socket end of the adapter, just pass it through the small door below the center cluster. Physical mounting of the satellite receiver can be done in several ways. I made small holes on the underside of the center console (plastic cover below the switch bank) and mounted the receiver holder that came with the Sirius Starmate. Passed the antenna along the top of the tunnel (under the parking brake), under the rear seat, up the right side (in the hollow metal area), to the top of the boot (tailgate) and to the rear end of the roof (magnetic mount). All wires can be concealed under plastic mouldings and carpet. The satellite power connector can be hardwired to the underside of the cigarette lighter socket. After removing a few screws, the plastic pieces surrounding the parking brake, shifter cover, etc. can be unsnapped with a little upward force (without tools). For alternate mounting options (including PDAs, Nav, Ipods, cell phones) made specifically for MINIs, see www.proclipusa.com
