Zappa,

Your welcome, and thanks for the song. Never heard it before. My dad was a big Nancy Sinatra fan I am sure he'd enjoy it too. Not that I'm that young, Nancy's genre is just a few years ahead of me. Thus the Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper in my post on what I'd be listening to first.

Motor On!

The first track on my Mini-Mix CD will be Elastica's "Car Song" --

"You could call me a car lover,
cause I love it in a motor,
And the way it feels,
To ride around on new wheels."

Of course, the Deadbeat Radicals' "Little Yellow Mini" will be on there, despite the colour discrepancy.

Then Sheryl Crow's "Every Day Is A Winding Road" to honor the MINI's handling capability, and Tom Cochrane kicks with "Life Is A Highway".

Since I'm getting the S, I'll mix in Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55", then on to Tom Petty's "Running Down A Dream" ---

"It was a beautiful day,
The sun beat down.
I had the radio on,
I was driving."

While easing the seat back, I'll segue into Van Halen's "Panama", and Garbage is in the mix with "Driving Lesson" ---

"Let's get behind the wheel
We'll go driving
To the mountains
To the rooftops "

"Highway Star" by Deep Purple would probably earn me a ticket if I didn't have "Radar Love" by Golden Earring.

It's still summer, so back to Sheryl Crow with "Soak Up The Sun", and since Sheryl Crow always makes me think of L.A., "L.A. Woman" by the Doors.

Then to the racks and the stacks for the best on wax, some golden oldies from the Beach Boys with "Fun, Fun, Fun" and Chuck Berry's "No Particular Place to Go".

As a tribute to Marc Bolan, who died when his purple Mini Cooper ran into a tree in London in 1977, I'll have to spin "Bang A Gong (Get It On)" by T.Rex and tap my horn in memory.

To remember the Mini's British roots: the Beatles' "Drive My Car", the Zombies' "She's Not There" and the Rolling Stones with "Sympathy For The Devil".

And then some other stuff...I really haven't thought about it that much!

It'll probably be a hot August night when my MINI arrives, but the tunes will start with Jethro Tull, 'Locamotive Breath'

Easy... (well, now it's easy..), YMO Remixes 2000-01... (That's Yellow Magic Orchestra)... It's cool, it's groovy, and it's all things at once... (How's that for some jinglish)... sorry.. still getting over my cultural lag from being in Japan for the past 12 days....

There's nothing better than good motoring music!

GNR: One in a Million
The Doors: Soft Parade
Billy Idol: Sweat
Pink Floyd: ... anything really
The Strokes: Last Night
The Dave Brubeck Band: The In Crowd
Ozzy: Night train
Zep: Black Mountain Side (HAVE to include and instrumental for a few nice S turns that don't need words to explain how you're feeling)
Gorrillaz: Clint Eastwood
Dylan: The Man in Me (from The Big Lebowski soundtrack)
Gypsy Kings: Hotel California (Spanish version) also from The Big Lebowski

First song I put on when I picked up the car was Fire by Jimi Hendrix. In hindsight, I'd suggest something more sedate during the 1200 mile break in period.

For a black Cooper S with white go-faster stripes-Nick Drake, Elliot Smith, and Radiohead until broken in, then Massive Attack's Mezzanine, full volume, with the sunroof open. Pure joy!

Original like the MINI I drove my Dark Gray MINI with white top, stripes and rally lights to the tune of uberZONE! uberZONE a Southern California band has toured the U.S. but he is most popular in the U.K. and throughout Europe and Asia.

Another Uberzone fan!!
I bought my first Uberzone CD almost 6 years ago!
Haven't listened to much of it recently but I may have to pull it back out.

Oh yes, uberZONE has an album out, he doesn't have it on his website yet but you can buy it from Amazon UK site. Go to music and search for uberZONE. I buy my imports from there although he gave me my copy, I did see it at that site. I don't know if the American site carries it or not but the UK site will ship to the US and it isn't that much more since the dollar is stronger than the Pound. He is also coming out with a new album. I'll find out when he plans on releasing it. (He's a friend and brother in law)
