What CD will you listen to when you pick up your new Mini?
It depends on the color!!
If it's Red? The Rolling Stones.
If it's Silk Green? Brian Ferry.
If it's British Green? Jethro Tull.
If it's Yellow? The Beetles of course...

Sfiveten 04-26-2002 10:15 AM

I think I'll have to break out the old eighties stuff for mine.
Burning down the House.
SAFETY Dance
Whip it
etc.

It just seems fitting to me....

Course that won't last long so I'll move to the classics ie. Stones, Zep, and the Beatles.

No, seriously - first CD in my Dark Silver Cooper S will be:
Pixies - Trompe le Monde

Not really a THRASH METAL fan but its got to be "ONE" by Metallica from "AND JUSTICE FOR ALL". If I get the HK audio upgrade with 8 speakers etc, this should be a real good test...

..maybe something by THE THE or New Order...

R.

jkniepkamp 04-27-2002 12:08 PM

Because I ordered the HK upgrade in my Dark Silver w/ Black Racing Stripes "S", I'm thinking that the only real choice for the 1st CD in the car has to meet the following criterion:

Heavy,
Fast,
Hard,
British,
Classic,
and most of all - Emotionally Driven.

Yes, I'll be spinning Motorhead!

wainair 04-28-2002 04:51 PM

Has ta be something ska, Madness, Specials, or maybe something newer like 311, though the Pixies is a great idea( compiling my cd case now ) The White Stripes would be approriate( especially" fell in love with a girl" just replace the word girl with MINI in your mind and voila)

c00p3r5 04-30-2002 01:09 PM

The cd in my case that says...mini. A mix including Nick Drake, Stone Temple Pilots, incubus, and Janes Addiction!

Anyone heard the stock cd player yet? Should I keep my Kenwood?

CoooopeR 04-30-2002 07:19 PM

I am going to listen to Queen's 'I'm in love with my car" !!

I guess you could also have REM's 'Drive'

Just went out last night to get six new CD's for the changer. First up is the Beatles "One" album, followed by New Riders of the Purple Sage, the new Bonnie Raitt, a Hendrix anthology, CSNY's Deja Vu, and Simon and Garfinkel's greates hits.

OK, OK, so I'm stuck in the past! That's why I got my Mini after all, isn't it?

Just a thought,
Mr. Toad

aquabat 05-07-2002 09:02 PM

I think Madness, yeah, "One Step Beyond" is the perfect song for cruisin in my new mini. After that maybe a little Toots and the Maytals or something.

seemunkee 05-08-2002 10:02 AM

I haven't ordered or even test driven one yet, but WHEN I do(not if, when) I will probably play my Nuggets CD, a collection of 60 psychdelic garage bands.

Any of you ska fans getting the checkerboard roof? Can you get it with the sunroof?

DWDave 05-08-2002 02:19 PM

The Who would be my appropriate choice. Although Fishbone or the English Beat would be fine as well.

Dave

minimotorin 05-08-2002 05:02 PM

Can you think of a better SKA tribute than a black mini with the checker board roof blasting Madness, Skaflaws, Pie tasters, Bad Manners, etc...

I can't wait!!

wainair 05-09-2002 05:53 PM

I almost got exactly that, The ultamate Two Tone Wheels... I can hear a British "1 2" just thinking of that paint scheme! Motor on Rudeboy.

wainair 05-17-2002 02:01 PM

Just had a flashback to the late 80's and thought of another great idea for a first song...."Jesus built my Hotrod" by Ministry the Redline Whiteline version!!! To quote " dinga ding danga dang a dong ding dong dinga ding dang a dong..." I guess you had to be there  Oh my misspent youth

Sfiveten 05-17-2002 02:17 PM

I wanted to add one that I think would be great.....
Speaking of the 80's..... The Cars.... Here in My car!!!

CBarsotti 05-18-2002 11:06 AM

We listened to "Yellow Submarine".

GoblinJack99 05-22-2002 02:57 PM

Definately going to listen to the "Thick as a Brick" album by Jethro Tull

shadbell 05-22-2002 03:24 PM

I guess it have to be something mellow like Pink Floyd. It takes 1200 miles to break it in so I wouldn't want to get all pumped up!

TMGRobyn 05-22-2002 04:27 PM

Hmmm....
First off Floyd, which one's Pink? Comfortably Numb! Then once I pinch myself and wake up the tribute has to go to Black Sabbath, then on to Alice Cooper Got you under my wheels.

You guys do realize, we are really dating ourselves. What the heck this is FUN!

nerdigrrl 06-04-2002 02:18 PM

While we were too nervous with our new baby to pay attention to the radio as we drove off the lot, the next day for our first fun drive along Hwy 1 north of San Francisco, we popped in Cake's Prolonging the Magic...starting with "Satan is my Motor"

Motor On!

Tollag 06-04-2002 02:38 PM

Well, I'm thinking... ANYTING TECHNO! it just seems fitting.. .does anyone else agree? Or does anyone have any good ideas for an Electric Blue Cooper S?

GreyCooperS 06-04-2002 08:37 PM

...well....in my new dark silver S...I guess im just gunna bring my 8 billiondy CD's cause im gunna need that many for the amount of driving ill be doin (of course ill listen to them all twice!)
