Navigation & Audio What CD will you listen to when you pick up your new Mini?
wow there are alot of great tunes slated for that first drive. As one of the Calif 5 , we are all picking up our cars together and group driving down the left coast, from San Jose, to Santa Cruz on to Monterrey and Carmel. I will be so stoked to finally have the car and JCW that engine is gonna be the our focus. but I think after the the butterflies go away,
A UK medley with some american blues mixed in
Gary Moore I still have the blues for you
Bowie Lets' Dance
Peter Gabriel Sledgehammer
Maddness One Step beyond
Pink Floyd
BB King the thrill is gone
Jonny Lange Matchbox
Queen I'm in love with my car, boheiem rhaposdy
Def Leapard Pyromania
Beatles Long and windy road
Beach boys Californa Dreamin
2.5 months to go!

Started with Coldplay. Chased that with Ottmar Liebert (who is playing in Harrisburg on October 20). Wrapped it up with the latest "Live from the World Cafe" (Known to those in the Philadelphia region).
I think I'll be playing Zero 7's "In the waiting line" as my first track in Mr.Motor2. The irony is sufficient, plus it's an awesome chill song (to represent my new driving style
)

I had 2 MP3 mix CDs -- burned from the high-rated playlist in iTunes -- with me for the drive back from Long Beach MINI.
First song: Rage Against the Machine covering Microphone Fiend. "In-E-F-F-E-C-T/Smooth operator operatin' correctly."
It worked.

Took my 2002 MCS home at the start of rush hour, traffic was terrible.
Traffic started to clear, I was playing around with the radio. Tuned to WXRT, thought I screwed something up, radio went quiet. Then I heard the familiar start of the Talking Heads "Psycho Killer". Traffic clears, on the gas, mindful of the break-in RPM limit.
4,500 4th.
Qu'est-ce que c'est (what is this)
fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better
4,500 5th BIG SMILE
run run run run run run run run away
4,500 6th REALLY BIG SMILE (mind the 95 mph break-in limit)
Je me lance vers la gloire (I go for the glory)
Would've probably never thought of it myself. Pretty damned appropriate.

My past 2 cars, E46 M3 and Astro Black MCS, both black..
First song played..
AC/DC - Back in Black
There's nothing like flying down the freeway on a nice warm night with Back in Black blaring.. I'm pretty sure if I get another black car, I'll have a measurable loss of hearing, just from the drive home.

Stavesacre's 3rd release, speakeasy.
From front to back, with no protesting allowed from my wife or brother who will be with me...
Of course, if you know who I am talking about, I will give you a cookie!

I probably didn't listen to anything for the first three days. The sound of the engine was my music! Love it! Eventually I finally started using the stereo though, but still only occasionally... and I'm usually a pretty big music listener in the car...
We were listening to the Arctic Monkeys' CD when we drove down to order my MCS. Then during the test drive I turned on the radio and an Arctic Monkeys song was playing. So I figured I had to listen to that on the way home after picking up my MINI.
I like everyone's choices though, especially all the ska stuff.

I didn't listen to anything on the way back from picking up Logan, but the next day before I left for work I perused my CD collection, and one just jumped out at me: John Cougar, American Fool. It seemed to fit, and definitely did.
Brought Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence with me, and even though I was a bit afraid that I was jinxing my baby with About to Crash, it made for awesome first-drive music. Plus the drive from the dealership to my house is only about 45 minutes.
I made a cd with Basement Jaxx(with JC Chasez) a couple of songs from the anime "ghost in the shell stand alone complex" Natasha Bedingfield, Van Halen(the David lee Roth days), Blues Traveler and a couple of others that I can't remember.
