Navigation & Audio NAV Software V26 Released

.The April one would be truely borderline for the 2005 disk as it was just being released at that time by NAVTEQ
I'd have asked the dealer at the time of delivery for the October one to contact Region and get the 2005 disk.
It's true that they 'get what comes with the car' from the VDC. My dealer told me that he would buy it from NAVTEQ himself if required, but it was handled as a warranty issue, no problems.

Chilibit, IIRC, you get the one 251M file. Worked fine for me! The graphics are leagues better.

The latest produced editions are 2003-1, 2003-2, 2005-1 and 2005-2. Most dekliveries have recieved the 2003-2 but most dealers will acquire/replace with the current 2005 edition if asked.
Since upgrade, to V26 and the 2005-2 DVD maps, I noticed the Nav system needs to be calibrated. The real vehicle loction and that displayed on NAV screen map are off. For example, I look out the window and see I'm in the middle of an intersection; the NAV display shows the vehicle is about to enter the intersection. I don't remember it being this inaccurate before the upgrade. Anyone else notice this ?
I just thought that the response time is slower. We could be experiencing the same thing. A few times I chose not to take a directed turn. With the old software, the directions would be updated before the next turn (within a city block on a major boulevard). Same update now takes a block and a half and works to play catch-up.
I gave a bad example, an intersecton. Try some place where you can park and see if the display ever agrees with the vehicle locaton. Depends on where you live and drive, maybe you can park in the intersection and that might not be by choice, if you know what I mean.

This happened to me before the last update---once along the 10 near La Cienega and another in downtown LA. Both times I was on the freeway, but the nav thought I was off it, and continued trying to give me directions as if I was on the side streets. I wanted to "reboot" it, but had no idea if that was even possible.

Well had this installed courtesy of my homie Rich_IX from Mini2 (much man love)
Its amazing how little changes make it so much better.
Still vast room for improvement but hey Rome wasnt built in a day!

I really don't mind the new Nav as it's light-years better than the Nav in my 2001 Audi TT that I left for the MINI.
My only complaint is that it's consistantly about 400ft off. I was up in Dallas yesterday and that variance caused me to miss my turn 3 times because I was in too much traffic to really read the display and counted on her voice telling me when to turn.
I wonder if MINI is going to fix this issue and if so, when.

We have our first service visit this Wednesday and the NAV is one of the 4 things on the list:
1. Enable DRLs. They claim that they do this by default but mine aren't on.
2. Check the alignment - seems to be pulling a tad left and I don't want to prematurely wear the tires.
3. Check out the NAV for the reasons described above.
4. Seems to be something loose in the back-right end... makes noise when I turn.
Nothing is really an emergency, so we waited until we had to drive down to the dealer's area anyway (90 miles away).

Just got back from our first service visit. In case anyone is interested, here's the update:
1. Enable DRLs. They claim that they do this by default but mine aren't on.
* Done. We now emit light out of our front ends at all times ;-)
2. Check the alignment - seems to be pulling a tad left and I don't want to prematurely wear the tires.
* Done. The alignment was OK but each tire was either under or over-inflated upon delivery. They corrected the air pressure in all tires and reset the run-flat warning system. Now the alignment is peachy.
3. Check out the NAV for the reasons described above.
* Done. They rebooted the Nav system and now it's much more accurate. The only issue I had was the directions seemed to lag behind actual position. Ex: Turn left in 400 feet usually meant to turn now!
4. Seems to be something loose in the back-right end... makes noise when I turn.
* Done. I did a track day a few weeks ago on a go-kart track. A lot of the leftover go-kart tire rubber that was stuck on the track got stuck on my tires, etc., and it seems that more of the go-kart tire rubber was stuck in my MINI's underside and finally broke free.
Unfortunately, though, on the drive down to the MINIcenter for the above, my roof was hit hard enough by a flying rock chunk to punch a small hole in the clearcoat and scratch the black paint. I took the opportunity while at the parts department to order touch-up paint for my body and roof colors (Dark Silver and Jet Black, respectively). I'll attempt to fix it myself once the paint comes in as both were out of stock.

My Local dealer says they will update my V4 Nav to the current software for $123. mine is 21.2. I have the file, just thinking it may be better to have the dealer do it in case somethng would happen? Wonder what version they will use?
the new 2005 DVD is $199. Someone said it's dual-layer.
Just in case I decide to do the flash. what mode should the nav be in when I put the CD in?

Doesn't matter - just pop the CD in and it begins to read it. I think the screen shots are around here somewhere. The latest renderings are miles ahead of the old.
I don't know that I've heard of anyone having issues updating to V.26, though some did with the original 'british voice hack'. I was a bit nervous when I did it, but I'm glad I did. Reality is, if anything 'happens', you can take it in, give them $123 and they'll upgrade it, no?
