Navigation & Audio NAV Software V26 Released
IT WAS 100 PERCENT FREE! IT TAKES UNDER TWO MINUTES TO POP IN THE DISC AND LET IT RIP! DON'T PAY FOR THAT...

there was no reset. i think they were slightly in the dark as to how long it would take - but were psyched to see the results when we finished in two minutes. it was exactly the same as the downloaded version - except it was a bmw disc.

Good info nycm - I guess it's free 'cause it's not user selectable.
Fortunately my computer is much closer to my car than the dealer, so I was able to do the upgrade tonight. Very nice! I love this place!!
Thanks to all you enablers!!

Issue with the new Nav
Hi,
I just accepted delivery yesterday of my 2006 MCS with Nav and the dealer (or the factory) already had applied the new software. Overall, it's not bad, but I've found two small issues so far:
1. The voice guidance seems to be out of sync (lagging behind) with the actual position of the car. My car is right where it's indicated on the map, but the voice is telling me to turn too late. In other words, the next voice prompt might be "Turn right onto Elm St. in 1/2 mile" but I'm literally a few car's lengths from Elm street and my position on the map agrees with that. Makes it tough to just listen in or look at the next route steps when they're lagging behind.
2. In messing around in the menus today to get used to the UI, I accidentally did the "Disable Icons" menu item (Information - Travel Information - Disable Icons) - see pg 29 of the NAV owner's manual. How to re-enable them as that menu option is now grayed out?
Thanks in advance!

Probably not the case here, but I have seen where subsequent directions come too quickly after the first, and end up coming late.
Don't even worry about it. The icons show up when you search for a particular type of service in the "Information" screens. Then, the icons will appear according to which service type you were looking for (hotel, restaurant, etc.). The sole purpose of the "Disable Icons" button is to get rid of the icons again after this happens... some of us (including me) usually don't want the icons displayed, so it's nice that they added this option, even if it's a little harder to get to than it should be.

For what its worth...
I noticed the icons for restaurants and such only shows up @ certain zooms. Like I normally drive with zoom @ 400ft and don't see the icons. But I do at 800ft+.

But I wonder if this problem relates more the map dvd. I recently started using the 2005.2 disk and have had more direction errors with the 2005.2 disk then with the old 2003 disk.
Which disk do you have?
One Question
I am using OctaneGuy's British voice on the older (v23) software.
I would like to do this update. So I downloaded Alcohol 120%, the file v26_rar(With USA Female to British Female Voice Hack).rar, and decompressed it with WINRar. When I use Alcohol 120% to start the process to burn a CD image and browse to the uncompressed file (s) I see a 251.06 mb file (only this one file) rather than two files and not the 288mb size I was expecting.
Am I missing something?
Any thoughts appreciated
Vince

gagdett - don't assume that because you took delivery recently you have a recent disk. It's been an area of consternation that even new cars are coming with the old 2003 disk.
Chilibit, IIRC, you get the one 251M file. Worked fine for me! The graphics are leagues better.
