HK Radio and Blitz Interface for XM Question

I have installed XM radio using the Blitz interface and it works great.

My question is, the default display is the name of the satellite channel. If you want to know the artist or song, you must press the "inf" button to access the info.

Does anyone know if you can change the setup so that the name of the artist will remain on the display. I usually know what channel I am on, but would like to glance down and see the artist.

Many Thanks - Fred

Nope, you can't do it. The info button is probably the one thing I dislike about the XM. I wish they had at least made it possible to use the one "dead" button on the MFSW to change the display.

Fred-
Do you have the HK system?
I have the same set up. Did you mount the XM box in the back in the side panel? I just have my Bltzsafe and my xm box just stuffed in there...you gota better way? Any pics?
Thanks,
Bill

I originally stuffed my xmdirect box back prety much on top of the back corner of the H/K amp, the door just barely would latch with it there. It started to make a little noise so I eventually took the side panel off and then mounted the XM Direct to the top of the strut tower right to the back of the piece that has the seat latch on it using ty-wraps.

I don't have any pictures but if you take the side panel off it will be very obvious. Also, the overall XM Direct install would have been easier if I had taken the panel off to begin with as I had a little bit of trouble getting the antenna wire down the rear pillar.

I put the XM tuner and Blitz Box on the right hand side in the boot. Ran the antenna up and put next to the factory antenna. Seems like the best position to view the sky.

Only picture I have is the final antenna location.

Hope this helps. Fred

Can I get some details on the XM installation on the 05 MCS?

Fred - Since you installed XM on your 05 MCS recently, hopefully you can help me with some equipment details.

I've got an 05 MCS, standard HU w/ CD (no CD changer) with HK upgrade.

What XM Direct Part No. is compatable with the HU?

What Blitzsafe Part No. is needed?

I gather from other threads, that I should find the CD changer hook-up in the boot. Is this correct?

As I understand it, I'd connect the Blitzsafe to the CD changer hook-up, then the XM Direct to the Blitzsafe. Is this right?

Any help and clarifications would be greatly appreciated. After scouring all the threads, I think I'm more confused than when I started.

Thanks,
Jack

Confirmation and parts details for new owner, please

I'm perilously close to having my 2006 MCS order placed but was apprehensive because after 2 years of an add-on SkyFi in my current car, I desperately want to have an integrated XM receiver in my next car.

I'm about to order a 2006 MCS with NAV and the upgraded H/K stereo. All of my prior research says that the Blitzsafe adapter for this car won't work with the H/K stereo because it is of the "DSP" variety.

Based on this thread, it appears that I may be able to install a XM-Direct tuner box in my car and get integrated XM with NAV and the H/K stereo.

If so, please point me toward the exact parts I'll need. BTW, my Mini dealer (90-miles away) knows nothing about this type of stuff and would appreciate this info for other owners.

Oh - and I also would LOVE to get fully integrated Bluetooth in my car as well. Supposedly the fully-integrated BT solution is nearly complete and is just waiting for software release. I hope it will be ready by my 2006 model's release, but I might have to be satisfied with the dealer add-on kit instead.

Any info on the above is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks.

I thought I read somewhere either here or at www.xm411.com that someone had made the system work with NAV by taking the connector apart and reinseting the wires. Something about the nav inputs using hte same plug in the same harness but not the same pins.

The only thing I can think to tell you is to buy from somewhere that will allow you to return it.
