Mini Aux In problem

I have an O2 MCS. I bought the BMW/MINI Aux In set up from Moss Motors, part #R50. I installed it myself and when I pressed the mode button on the factory Alpine deck, the Aux would not display. Not working. I took it in to a supposed BMW/MINI "sound specialist" and they hooked it up to another MINI deck and the same problem occured. I could only conclude that the part is bad or my deck may have issues. Has anyone had this same problem or can someone shed some light on this for me. Thnx.

Your problem is that you have an 02... It's not compatible with cars with build dates before Nov '02

Your only option is to get a newer head unit

I have an '03 with a build date of Sept. '02. I just bought the Aux input, and MAN am I going to be if it doesn't work, as that was one reason I waited for the '03. I was assured and reassured in no uncertain terms that my stero would have an AUX capability, but the aux port itself wasn't released yet. GRRRRR!

Can you retrofit a newer head-unit on an older car? I hear the new ones play MP3s too!

My '03 had an '02 head unit in it. Apparently, just because you have an '03 car doesn't mean you also have an '03 headunit.

I swapped with someone who had a later model '03 head until and the aux works now - so yes, newer head units can go in older cars.

The Zoomness (brand new) has the H/K and the unit ROX! it has the iPod adapter, so I have no opinion on an aux in. but if there is a way to retrofit the '05 unit in an '02, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I have a Sep '02-build '03, and my Aux jack works just fine. You should not have any problems UNLESS your car somehow wound up with a '02 headunit (reasons for this is usually dealer-installed 'upgrade' from cassette (Aux does not work with cassette headunits) or replacements for defective headunits). If either of these are the case, you should be able to resolve with the dealer that your car should be fitted with a '03 headunit.

If you have an '02 and would like to have an Aux input, you can either get one made by Blitzsafe, or find an '03 or later headunit to swap with the '02. Headunits are readily available from people who installed aftermarket stereos in their cars. All factory headunits are currently interchangeable.

The New head units were installed right after my 7/02 build MCS was built .

I had to go with the Blitzsafe unit. It plugs into the CD/amp plugs in the boot passenger side compartment. Was cheap too at Rspeed.net.

Can anyone tell how I can determine my build date for '03 MCS? I bought it used but some paperwork I have says it had it's delivery check at dealer 8/29/03.

It's in the driver's side door sill, near the latch.

Look at the manufacturer's plate on the driver's side door.

I'm guessing 6/02 or 7/02 based on what your telling us

For anyone who needs an Aux. in, we offer one. Our unit would take the place of the factory 6 disk changer. We also offer an interface that allows you to control an Alpine changer and have an Aux. input.

MINI/AUX DMX V.1 Aux. audio input
MINI/ALP DMX V.1D Alpine changer and Aux. audio input.

We are still running the Group Buy for anyone interested.
