Are BMW headunits convertible to Mini by coding
Hi Miniacs,
I am going through the upgrade of my simple boring Visual Boost (thanks god it is boosted) to a NBT EVO High with Carplay support. I have seen in an eBay listing that the seller claims that a HU is for both Minis and BMWs. I asked the question and he said that they are compatible, you just need to code for one or other brand.
Does anyone here know if this is true? Can I just pick the latest BMW ID5 or ID6 HU and just code to Mini? That would be awesome, as there is plenty of options of BMW and less for Mini.
I will dig on my own as well, but should any of you guys have experience or knowledge on this I will appreciate.
Regards from Catalonia!
Joan.

There's a very good breakdown in this thread.
It wasn't cheap by any means but I feel like it completes my Mini. The Carplay integration with iDrive is just really nicely done.

You need to change simply a few parameters under NBT2 for the MINI “theme” ... it isn’t separate software ... i’ll have to pull a few parameters to tell you wha needs to be changed.
Be be aware that you will also need to change the amplifier settings, vehicle style and model, telematics ECU type, as well as screen size and type
you can use the evo headhunt with or without a new touchscreen .... simply code the system for the right size, supply 12v screen power from another source. As apix2 screen is 9v, while a apix1 screen is 12v and only 16bit color vs 24 bit color.
simply changing the build date on the vehicle order and then VO_coding the nbt2 evo will be the easiest to make all OEM changes to the unit

To answer the OP's question. Yes you can flash any BMW Evo to run Mini HMI. I only look for evos to buy not Mini Evos.
Just got mine updated today with F55. And the manuals. It was a pleasant surprise. I was using tool32 for something else. Re injected cafd it just magically appeared.
I had countryman graphics on my retrofitted id4 to id5 also (another unit). I'm gonna try the same tool32 job on this unit shortly. Will let you know.

May I ask you what's the correct procedure to flash a BMW's evo headunit to have Mini HMI?
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Hi all,
I'd like to give to the community another feedback about this topic: yesterday my coder was able to successfully flash my BMW's Nbt Evo (coming from a G01 vehicle) and convert it to Mini F54 GUI.
He told me he flashed the headunit with my VIN using latest F56 Psdzdata, and then he loaded FSC files without problems at all.

Coder in USA
Can someone assist me finding someone who can flash/program/code a head unit for me? (Im willing to pay) I want to retrofit 8.8 touchscreen to a 2017 F57 convertible S, my car is 6.5 visual boost I know is doable... The more I read about how to do this I just realize Im not capable to do it by myself and I don't want to brick this expensive unit... or use a ATM emulator either.
I was able to find a seller on eBay who has the parts including a headunit i need, is HW4.1 not sure if it has GPS but i needs to be configured to my VIN number, activated the CarPlay, put the right graphics for my car... and I don't know what else is need to be done to get the navigation working...
Im located in USA.
I will appreciate the help.. thanks all
