Navigation & Audio purchasing THE OEM 8.8 touchscreen from mini possible??
@Bezlar Since you have singled me out in your post let me respond in kind.
I have assisted countless of members in the forum and have answered questions that have been repeated on a regular basis. There are only two or three members in particular that respond to questions in this post and if you have read through you will see who they are. There are also members who ask the same exact question back to back, their questions get answered, they go do something different then come back and ask the same questions again, if that doesn’t frustrate you the kudos to you; I am not about to call names as this is a free and open forum and I also never quoted you or anyone else in my said post.
I started off just like everyone else with no knowledge, but I read and read some more, then I asked questions that were not answered clearly before.
Do have a good day sir/ma’am.
Edit: Scrolled up to see your posts and you didn’t ask repetitive questions, so not sure what’s the deal.

Really didn’t mean to call you out. Just saying it’s tuff to figure most of this out. I have read through every forum looking for info on how to get this done. All that did was confuse me even more. Guess I’m not bothered by reading the same questions cause I was in the same spot as some of the people looking for help.

I have only changed the screen, I have kept my original equipment, I have coded the values of the new screen and it has already worked, I have activated carplay by buying the fsc and entering the fsc with esys. Before buying the fsc I used the joyeauto module, right now I am selling it at half the price of what it is worth, if someone is interested send me private.

He has a 2017 Nov F60...Entrnav EVO/ Hu Entrynav2 so id5, only need fsc for CarPlay etc.
Hi, With the Joye Auto module were U able to get the Touchscreen & OEM rear camera functional to work on the interface?.I am not able to do that. Were any special connections needed to enable those features?.Thanks.
the touch screen does not work with the joyeauto module, the original rear camera if it works, you have to configure the sitwch dip that the module carries.
Hello. I have read the full thread and I still have some doubts. I have a Mini Countryman F60, production date October 2017 with navigation and a 6.5” non touchscreen display. It also comes with the old version of the software. My VIN is WMWYT910903D93489. I don’t think I’ll be able to install Carplay with the USB method some other people have used and I don’t really care about the big 8” screen for now. I’ve seen that Bimmer Tech offers a solution that requires another the installation of another unit, but for that price I’d rather try to find a new original head unit (I don’t know the prices though). My question is simple: can you change the current headunit for a newer one and make it work with the car and then install Carplay? In that case, which parts should I need to source? I have checked RealOEM.com but I don’t really know what parts should I need for this project.
Thanks so much in advance.

You can research about the above mentioned link, the Joye interface kit, which i think, is the solution for your car with a Non-touch display. It should serve your purpose.

I would not advice you to change the HeadUnit as U will end up having to re-code the new head unit into your vehicle.
I am currently on a project to upgrade my 6.6" touch to 8.8" touch. If u are interested in upgrade of your 6.5 non touch to my 6.5" touch screen you may contact me in 2 weeks from now, as i will be selling off my touch screen 6.5" display with the assembly and trim & hazard switch.
The original touch screen alone 6.5" or 8.7" are expensive and range around 2000-2800 US$!.

Thanks for the reply. I have found a seller for the head unit and I’ll ask him to recode it to my VIN. I’m also talking with a guy that seems to have both the 8” screen, the trim and the head unit. If he can recode it I might buy it. I didn’t want to change the screen but maybe you have to in order to use the new head unit (the part number of the head unit is 6842266). I don’t really care about the touch screen, i don’t want this project to be too expensive.
There are 2 different kinds of "control panels for audio" that are under the 6.5/8.8" display. Both of them have the same amount of buttons but one of them has a button for "BAND" while in the other has in the same place, a pic with a wireless transmitter on it indicating "TRAFFIC MAPS UPDATE".Has anyone seen these 2 parts & compared to check what one could offer more vs the other in terms of functionality/use?.Thanks.
You might want to pop open your infotainment system to get a better idea of what your options are. If you can pull it out from your dash (it's not too hard), check for which HW revision it is. If it is HW3.1 or newer, you can just pull it from your car and sent it off to be reflashed by someone to support CarPlay. It might be the cheapest way. IIRC HW3 and newer is required as the older versions had less memory and thus could not run the newer firmware...
FWIW my car (2019 F54-S) did not come with NBT EVO (the name of the fancier head unit which includes navigation, gps, etc; if you got the navigation package you should have some version of this head unit). I bought a 2017 MINI F56 NBT EVO from ebay. The donor vehicle had a production date of January 13, 2017. The donor vehicle had the S609A "Navigation" option checked via its build sheet, and the unit installed was HW 3.1. I sent it off to a coder who was able to update it to include CarPlay support. The only 'gotcha' might be, a pre-July-2017 manufacture date, might not have a WiFi antenna attached to the NBT EVO unit...but you will probably have a WiFi connector (HW3.1 has a wifi connector), you'll just have to spend $10 on an antenna, which you would then shove in your dash whereever it will fit.

My advice, don't go blindly into this, do your due diligence and make sure the person you're purchasing from is reliable and won't send the wrong items.
Is the HU you're looking at HW version 3.1? Is it ID4, ID5/ID6? Is it a MINI or BMW unit, a BMW unit needs an ATM emulator.

I got the 8.8" Touch display and was able to code using the Bimmercode App (4 changes to make) and it works.
However, the housing for the 8.8" display for my 2019 MINI COOPER COUNTRYMAN F60 is different from the DONOR VEHICLE-Housing part #65-50-9-367-674 (2019 MINI COOPER JCW).
I had to buy a new housing part #65-50-9-354-027 to fit the 8.8" display on my F60 COUNTRYMAN.I am still waiting on the part to arrive.
I will be using the original control module(radio, mode, power **** module) and swapping it into my new housing part along with the hazard button.
I also had to buy a new 8.8" trim ring along with a screen protector for my 8.8" Touch display.
Until my 8.8" housing arrives, i had to uncode/revert my system back to 6.6" from the 8.8" display.

if you do not give more information about your equipment it is impossible to help you, if you put a photo of the menu on your screen you quickly know if you can have a carplay, but for the year of the car and if you have a 6.5 screen, I suspect that it cannot be activated carplay
U can visit www.minipartsdirect.com and enter the year and model of your MINI and go through the cluster of parts to figure out what you will actually need for your particular set up.
Basically you will need:
1-The 8.8" Touch screen display(must be 2017 or older with NBT EVO system for touch (or) U will end up also having to "change the Central Audio Head Unit & Code it to fit your VIN")
2-The 8.8" Housing cluster with the LED ring for the display.
3-The Radio controller which has the Radio On/Off & Mode & Band & other buttons. You may be able swap your existing one into your new housing.
4-A hazard button. You may be able to swap your existing one into your new set up.
5-A compatible 8.8" Trim ring that will hold all this into your dash.
In the F series, 3rd Gen MINI Coopers the Touchscreen 8.8" display is a common part #6820386-04Q 8.8" CID MINI TOUCH.
All the other parts need to be compiled based on your vehicle model.
For my 2019 MINI COOPER COUNTRYMAN F60 i needed:
Housing BMW/MINI part#65-509-354-027.
Trim Ring BMW/MINI part#51459332786
The Hazard Switch & Radio Controller are to be swapped from my existing 6.5" Housing into the 8.8" housing.
For the 2019 MINI COOPER COUNTRYMAN F60, there are 2 variants of the Radio Controller i could find:
#1-Part#9354506 with a button on the far left for changing the "Band of Radio"
#2-Part#9354505 with a button on the far left for "Traffic Live Updates" instead of the band of Radio.
You must stick to the radio controller part that came originally with your F series MINI, unless you have the skills to code and assign/modify what that button must do.
I also changed my "Media Command Control Switch ****" from BMW PART# 939203901 to BMW PART#9332289.
There are a few variants of the BMW PART#9332289 and U must choose whatever suits your taste. This **** has facility to swing the **** in 4 directions(for maps) & also feature to enable touch control.
To enable Touch Control on the ****, you will have to buy a Touch Control Cable & Touch Control ECU that suits your BMW/MINI model & also additionally code your Head Unit to enable the Touch Control.
I have not enabled the Touch control on my vehicle. The BMW Part# 9332289 has a large **** that also lights up in the night and looks very pretty.
Once you get all your parts, you will have to have to use the Bluetooth OBD2 adapter & BimmerCode app(In Expert Mode) to change 4 steps to activate the 8.8" touch display on your car.
Basically you will need:
1-The 8.8" Touch screen display(must be 2017 or older with NBT EVO system for touch (or) U will end up also having to "change the Central Audio Head Unit & Code it to fit your VIN")

Cost of the 8.8" Upgrade.
If U buy all the parts on your own/new, it will cost you a bomb.
Just the display itself costs 2800-3300 US$ new.The rest of all the parts will cost at least 1000-1500/- US$.
The best way is to hunt for used parts at your local dealer or eBay and you will get through with your project in around 1000-1200 US$ God willing.
