To do the coding you can use either esys or BimmerCode. With esys you will need to purchase a custom cable to interface with the headunit; with Bimmercode you need to purchase a Bluetooth OBD unit and install the app on your phone/tablet.

I use both, BimmerCode when I’m lazy and want simple things done and esys when I really need to dig deep into system coding.

For your simple task I would advise you get BimmerCode and a Bluetooth dongle. I bought the Veepeak OBDCheck Ble+

I would also also advise you do some research, there’s tons of info here and other sites from a simple search.

Im also from Trinidad

I can help but in July. That’s when I’ll be back in Trini.

Just to be clear, you have the 6.5 mini connected screen ie colour screen and not the standard lcd screen. Can’t remember how they were building them for Trinidad.

Did you do the swap already? Did you purchase an NBT Evo headunit? Your car came with EntryNav that cannot be coded for CarPlay etc.

Hi Sir

Don't worry, please try to use Bimmercode to code this, it's very easy to use.

https://www.bimmercode.app/

You need to buy bimmercode app and Bluetooth OBD and try to follow this steps

Hi Sir

First, you need to check all parts number of your 8.8 CID and buy it. you can check on https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select

Second, Install all parts on your car and start to code.

Good luck ~~

Dumb question: I've purchased a 8.8" screen and a NBT EVO (and had the EVO off to be reprogrammed to my vehicle's VIN, had navigation and carplay apps installed on it), but: how do you remove the current screen from the dash? Is it just pry on the existing screen out with some plastic spudgers? And where do you pry from? I don't want to break any plastic ;-). I could have sworn that I saw a tutorial one time with detailed photos of where to pry, what screws to remove, etc...but can't find it now :(.

Hey maaii, that helps, thanks! I guess I DO need to remove the air vents on the left and right side of my screen to get it out. Has anybody done this without breaking the vents? Is getting that BMW tool 641030 worthwhile?

No, you don’t need to remove air vents. After removing the 2 screws on the bottom of the display, you just gently pull it out.

You will need to remove the vents to install an nbt Evo headunit due to the size of the thing.
Remove screws from the vent and pull the vents, they are firmly fixed with metal sprng clips, they won't break, I've removed them multiple times.

You don't need to remove them to remove the screen and trim. Just make sure you unclipped the top and removed the screws from the bottom.

Hi Sir

If you have touchscreen function on 6.5 CID, you don't need to change Head Unit.

For Carplay function, you need to check what Head unit do you have? Please try to put it and see the model number.
