XM w blitz safe or SIRIUS
I really like the NFL package ect with Sirius is there a way to use the Blitz safe product so that my 03 mini radio will work ala removal of cd changer or does blitz safe only work with XM. I really want to be able to control it all with the streering wheel. And have it read out on my OEM radio?
Are you stuck with blitzsafe? how about the soundgate KBMWSIRV2?
Take a look:

Soundgate
Anyone know of a good place to order the soundgate. I called about 50 places around me, everyone has to special order it. Tweeter was all sold out. They where asking about $165 for it. Anyone know if you can get it cheaper online?

Please update us all on head unit display and if you can rename the stations. If you can rename stations and use steering controls I may go this route. MUST FIGHT IPOD TEMPTATION!!!!!!!
Sent an e-mail to soundgate about their interface and got the following response. stever let us know what your experience is.
The steering wheel controls will continue to operate properly, the
radio however is not text capable so it will not give you any text
information. The display will read channel numbers only on the radio.
Thanks CHET.

That does not make sence if you can only get channels numbers then why do I get text on my local stations ; ie KFMX 94. How on earth do you know what you are listening to. Or is their a Sirius guide by channel ;ie channel 33= 70s rock and so on.
Could someone with the soundgate adpt chim in on this?
It seems Blitzsafe is price gouging the mini people. 150-300 for a mini adpt when you can find BS adpts for othe vehicals for as low as 59.00 on some sales sites.
I for one will prolly NOT buy a BS (blitzsafe) adpt due to the BS with BS. Funny is it not, I used to be in sales for one of the largest distributers in the nation , THANK GOD they realized you can't take a % to the bank, only REAL SALES DOLLARS. Once they figured this out we sold record numbers.

More information from SoundGate on their adapters is below. I also called MoritzMINI today and the OEM Sirius system is $500 you can install it yourself to save the $200 install. It has full channel name / song title etc..
What I mean by non text capable is that the radio is not capable of displaying text from that port of the radio. The difficult part of this is that we use the CD Changer port to enter the system so the interface will work clear back to 1996, rather than the SAT port so it has three radios that will work with it. Because of that there is no text capability with our interface. The factory will give you 8 characters of text anyway which is not much better than just the channel number you are on. The key to remember here is that there is one Mini radio and two BMW radios that will work with those interface only in the 2003 BMW 5 series and the 2004 3series and Mini, rather limited application list, where our interface works from 1996 through most of the 2004.
Thanks CHET.

Final clarification
Up until now I have been very unclear with the whole satellite connections.
I have a 2004 MCS with Navigation and HK systems. I was interested in Sirius at the time of purchase but due to the navigation system it was and still is not available. So I went the aftermarket route. I went to Tweeter which installed an audiovox sirius tuner and used the Blitzsafe AUX adapter. I had an external controller which displayed the song, artist and channel. But due to the limited space on the dashboard it looked crappy. last week I ended up ordering a kenwood siruis tuner and the soundgate adapter. Installed it last night and was very disappointed. The only information that is displayed on the head unit is the Channel, YOU CAN NOT SAVE THE CHANNELS ON THE HEAD UNIT. let me say with over 150 stations it is alot of fun locating the channel you want. I will be returning the sirius units tomorrow. If you want satellite radio at this time the only option we have as mini owners is XM. and Blitzsafe is the only adaptor that we can use that will use the steering wheel controls, display song artist and channel info and finally you can store your channel information.
I contacted Blitzsafe and spoke with Mark the head of tech. support department. At this time they are not selling the unit as a stand alone unit you must purchase the unit in a package deal (XMdirect+Antenna+Blitzsafe adaptor. The item number is BMW XMD 101 or 100 The difference is 101 will let you hook up a cd changer as well. The price is the same. so go with the 101, why restrict yourself. from www.myradiostore.com.
The entire package includeing standard ups shipping cost [size=2]286.98 on 10/28/04. Talk about a monopoly. Feel free to contact me via email if you want. It has been a long 2 weeks trying to figure this out.
