HK + Pioneer Sub...

I'm picking up my Mini tomorrow, and though it only has the base radio (not the screen) it does have the HK sound system in it.

I'd like to add my low profile 10" Pioneer sub and amp to the trunk. I know I can run power directly to the battery, and a switch using an "add a circuit" fuse, but I'd need to tap the factory speakers to drop a signal to the amp.

Has anyone done this? And whats the easiest, least invasive way to do it? I know Jeeps have factory wire taps so that you dont have to cut the factory wires, are there any of these for Mini's?

Yeah I saw them today. But why buy another sub when I already own one?

you will need to tap the output from the head unit at the amp connector
here is the pinout

its a speaker level output so you will need an amp with high level inputs

My amp is a Pioneer GM-3500T 2-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier, and my sub is a Pioneer TS-SWX251 10" Flat Subwoofer with Enclosure 800 Watts

I understand what your saying now, I need to tap the wires between the head unit and the amplifier, and not at the speakers.

I'm revisiting this, and I see that my amp only has speaker level inputs.

Is there a way around this?

This is all info ive gleaned from other threads, i have not done this yet myself but ive installed lots of systems in many cars so...
speaker level input on your amp is what you need
basically if youre trying to connect the radio speakers leads to the RCA connectors, the red and white round connectors, youre doing it wrong
if your amp has speaker level inputs those are what you want to use
Easiest place to tap the wires is going to be close to the amp in the rear of the car on the driver's side
I do not know where to tap power from however for the amp
That pinout for the H/K amp may have a remote on line as well, I also do not know if this will work with an aftermarket amp

On my Jeep, I ran power directly to the battery through the firewall. For circuit switching I was thinking of one of these...
