Aux Input won't give me Aux Mode

I researched the potential of needing a GLI, but even when I plug in a battery powered portable device, I'm still not getting AUX (never had it) as a source option. I've tried plugging in the connector several times, with and without audio playing.

Any suggestions?

Definitely not a 2002 built car?

I bought an AUX cable and it didn't work, in GBMINI#6 - the dealership tested, confirmed, and had to replace the HU!

It's a 2005 model. What is the GBMINI#6? The HU or the cable?

GBMINI#6 was one of my MINIs.
It was the HU that was faulty. If you're still in warranty, get the dealership to investigate.

I have a somewhat similar situation. My auxiliary input shuts off after about 2 seconds of playing with a source (sirius radio unit) plugged in. If I don't plug in the satellite radio, then it stays on indefinitely, but if I wanted silence, then I'd turn the radio off.

I peeled back the shielding and what not just below the jack on the aux cable and touched the line from the sirius radio to each of the three individual wires in the cable and when touching the red wire (which seems to be the left audio channel) it would cut out, but when touching the other two, it did not cut out....any idea how to fix this or if there is anything else i should look at?

edit: After more searching, I think I may have found the answer to my question. Ground Loop Isolator

barroomhero, a "ground loop isolator" will probably fix it. Do a forum search on that term and you'll find lots of information. It is a common problem with the aux input. It is caused by electrical noise when your device is plugged into aux and power at the same time. If your sirius can run on batteries, try it that way to confirm. You can use something like this:

I run a standard AUX input on my 04 MCS. This is in response to some of your other posts...

I had an HK Drive & Play which now needs replacement so I have been running my iPod and Sirius directly into the port. Both are hardwired to the car's power source, and I never lose the AUX option on the HU. I recently got an iPhone, and the input will not work consistently. I know that with the iPhone, the old TV interfaces can't work because the fact that it broadcasts interferes with the signal. I assume its a similar issue here, but does anyone know a solution?

Are you sure your Aux input is actually connected to the back of the radio. I saw one Mini that had an Aux Input Jack mounted in the car but there was nothing connected to the jack. If you can see feel a cable at the back of the jack, you might want to make sure the cable is plugged in correctly at the back of the radio.
