Clubman Rear Speakers Help

Is there a thread on how to do the rear speakers in the Clubman? I would assume the rear seats don't have to be removed since the speakers are embedded in the side panels. Can someone confirm this? Thanks.

Could you elaborate on the "do the rear speakers" part? Hi-Fi? Non Hi-Fi?

There's a thread on reversing the front and rear channels in non Hi-Fi stereos in order to get better sound... Is that what you mean?

Oh, I have the non-hifi. And I mean is there a thread on how to replace the rear speakers in the CLubman? Do the rear seats still need to be removed to switch out the speakers?

That I don't know. I intend to reverse the front and rear channels the way that thread says to. Apparently, the bass dies out on the rear channel, so you can really boost your current sound by making the switch.

You might have better luck looking in the electrical modding subforum.

the one in the clubdoor is easy to change but you have to disassemble the back half of the car to change the one on the other side.

basic steps for the drivers side (left drive)

1. pull bottom of rear seat out, pull up and forward.

2. in between seats there is a double latch, one for each rear seat back. Using a large screw driver push the latch for the drivers side rear seat back away from the seat. This allows the seat back to be removed by rotating it forward and pulling it our from the side wall.

3. remove the rear (barn doors) threshold, two or three push clips down in the well allow it to come off. after removing the push clips pull straight up.

4. remove the rear pillar cover. screw is holding it under the air bag tag. there is no air bag under it so do not worry.

5. remove the cover over the rear side panel. seat belt goes thru this peice.

6. remove two hold down clips need a #40 torx ( i think that is the size) then remove the side panel

7. remove the rear seat side panel.

Now you can remove the speaker.

This is not a very hard job but is very time consuming the first time you do it. after doing it once i can get it all done in less than 10 minutes.

YIKES! Ha ha. Well I'll have to rummage around back there a bit more before I go through with it. Thanks so much!

I didn't go through nearly this much when I did my Clubman's left rear speaker. After removing the seat bottom and the B-pillar trim, I was able to unsnap and carefully pry back the plastic panel just enough to work in there, removing the stock speaker, splicing on new connectors and installing a Polk db691.
