Just got done putting together my sub enclosure for the MINI. The box is built out of .75" MDF Double front baffle sealed with an internal size of about .85f3^ the sub is counter sunk so that I may add a cover board later and it not interfere with the 18mm Xmax. The sub will be run on a Sundown Audio SAE-1000d 1000w Sub amp that I will have stashed in the passenger side rear panel.
I ran out of light for the carpeted pics but it matches the boot of the MINI color perfect.
On with the pics.

flush with the seats folded.

Sub test fit

I had to router slots to clear the tiedown loops but it also keep it from sliding.

More to come in the next weeks or so when I install the amp and finish it up.

Thanks for the comments. I feel that I went a little overkill with the double baffle but in the long run for sound quality, it will not flex like some will.
Here is the gear.

The amp will NOT be mounted on the box.

I did not carpet the full sides of the box because it will not be seen when it is done.
It will be wired with a high current quick disconnect so I can yank it out when I want also.

I have a unit from roadstersound and its sitting in the garage because I don't know how to get it installed in my 08 MCS w/ hifi

For signal you probably need a line out converter and hook that into the rear speaker leads. You need to find a switched power for the amp turn on. Next you need to run a power cable from the battery to the rear where the amp will be mounted. Connect it all and your done.Originally Posted by TWISTER

I believe the rear speakers have a dropoff below 100hz, there is another thread on switching front and rear speakers. I would also upgrade your front speakers, it will make a big difference.Originally Posted by david in germany

That is for the NON Hifi. The rears seem to have a low pass setup in ours with the amp.Originally Posted by rasputinj

David - Nicely made box and the covering looks great too (a nice match). Do keep us informed on all the hookup detail and how it sounds.

Read through the sticky. You can get a signal from the X9331 connector near the driver's side footwell.Originally Posted by TWISTER

Hurray, a day with sun and no rain.
Here is a test fit of the finished product.

On a side note: One of the guys from Fi Audio is building me a custom replacement sub with a little more power handling to match the amp better while using the same box. WOOT! More to come later on.
