New MINI Bluetooth phone site up

There is a new list of phones on the Mini site: http://wireless4mini.com/phones2.html that has my phone on it, the Verizon LG VX8350. Unfortunately, my phone does not work well with the Mini Cooper Clubman 08. It continually requires me to push OK to connect to the bluetooth , does not access the address book, etc. It will sometimes answer or dial, but very intermittently. So I would say the list is not very helpful.

Do you know what firmware version your phone is.

I ask this as i have had three different LG phones and each time i upgraded the phones firmware there was less and less functionality.

I have sent them a request to find out what firmware revisions they say work so that micknbecka can update the spreadsheet he has going about this stuff.

Wow...very limited for AT&T. I ended up getting a Sony Walkman phone. It's not on the list, but it works just fine for me. I don't know about uploading phone books though.

According to Verizon, there is only one firmware for this phone.

It continually asks me to authorize; there is a setting on the phone to turn this off, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

My verizon 8830 works perfectly (except it does not show signal strength, oh well). The 8330 curve should be no different.

I have had a lot of experience with the Voyager and the only one i ever got to work was one with a V3 firmware. as soon as i upgraded to v5, v7, v10 software the phone no longer worked. Also flashing the phone back to V3 did not fix the problems as what ever change was made in the upgraded firmware was not overwritten with the older version.

I am waiting for BMW/Mini to get back to me on what version of phone firmware they tested and what limitations were stated.

As soon as i have that info i will post it here.

mrdunn, thanks for the heads up! The spreadsheet is now updated to include each of the phones listed- only three or four new ones, but everything helps.

Not exactly the flood of information I was hoping for though. At least with the old phone list they had PDFs with information on them. This new list seems to include a couple half-working phones too.

Tim, is this the Sony W800? I've got a spot for it in my list, but no details.

Here is the definitive answer on the LG Voyager.

Per Karen at BMW USA (the 08 BMW and 08 Mini use the same bluetooth module) that the system was tested with the LG Voyager at firmware version V03.

From past reports and if you read the threads on this stuff we all ready knew that the LG Voyager would work at V03 but that it started loosing functions at V05. V07 was even worse and as for V10 it seems they fixed the video e-mail problem but not the bluetooth connectivity problems.

Thanks LG

From Karen at BMW USA.

"Both BMW and Mini are working on the pdf spread sheets and getting them corrected. They should be available with int he next two weeks."

Nice to finally see an update. Happy to see the VX6800 listed. I'm still waiting on my car but have been following the Bluetooth threads closely. Glad to see I didn't waste my money on the comfort bluetooth. I am concerned on the limit of contacts the VX6800 will tranfer, but hopefully turning on OBEX in the registry will help.

@ Draikonius, I'd forgotten that I had a cross-reference on the Verizon model at the end of the sheet, there's been more Verizon xv6800 users since that initial post, and so far it appears that they don't transfer the phone book at all.

I hadn't heard of any hacks to turn on OBEX, but if you can make it work, please let us know!

I could have sworn that I read that some people could get the contact list to transfer but would choke on large lists. I'll dig back through the threads and see if I can find it. Hopefully they will at least make a insert for the 6800.

Like I said I don't have my car yet, but anyone has a VX6800 and would like to try and sync their phone book try this and let me know if it works.

Just go to the comm manager and enable Beam and also go to the connection settings and enable the beam from there. Make sure you able visible in bluetooth also.

I did this and was able to send files using the OBEX through bluetooth.

It works just dandy. Still hate the mic placement for the hands-free. Right above the air conditioner blower so have to turn off the air to talk [yell] on the phone.

Update... Received my 09JCW today. I just finished setting up the bluetooth and my contacts DID transfer using a Version VX6800. Just enable OBEX as shown above and it should work.

I have a Voyager LG phone from Verizon. I could not get it to sync with my Lexus RX or my 2008 Clubman. Bluetooth sounds inviting, but for the average person it is too difficult to set up. Personally, I would be willing to pay someone at the dealer or ?? to sync my phone, if it is syncable. (I don't know if this is a word)
