Solid White Triangle Icon on Nav Screen
Yesterday I was at LAX seeing off my cousin. On the bottom of the NAV Screen between the cell phone signal icon and the TI icon for traffic a solid white triangle icon appeared. As soon as I left the immediate airport area the triangle disappeared. Does anyone know what the solid white triangle icon represents?
TIA,
Dennis

I have had this solid white triangle ever since i updated my iphone to the 2.0 software. i suspect it has to do with bluetooth, but don't know anything beyond that. i sent a photo to my dealer and he didn't know either.
I think it means that your Bluetooth has just brought down the navigation system on a circling aircraft. It can also mean that space aliens are attempting to contact you.
Perhaps it is a glitch in the software that is clearing a place for a warning triangle, but the actual display is not really called for -- a sort of incomplete false alarm.

Has anyone found out anything further on this? I just got the triangle for the first time the other day. I think it does have something to do with roaming, as I was in a remote area of California where I ended up with "no service" on the iPhone.
The triangle icon is roaming. I don't know if the icon is an industry standard, but it is widely used throughout the cellular industry to indicate roaming.
The roaming indicator no longer has much relevance now that most wireless plans are flat rate nationwide, and it doesn't matter whether your calls are roaming or not. It used to be the case that roaming calls cost more and you'd want to know when it was happening.
