Access to Cell Antenna

We have the Bluetooth option and the armrest with phone cradle slot. We don't have a phone that is compatible with the slot but both our phones work with the Bluetooth. Does anyone know if the cell antenna cable is accessible anywhere like the Sirius cable? Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried the search and found nothing.

Great questions. For some reason they won't make a generic cradle that would give you access to the wiring to hook up your own leads.

If you look in the rear part of the armrest, you'll see the connector the cradle plugs into. See the round jack in the middle? That is the antenna connection. You just need to find something that plugs into that.

Bumping this thread.... Has anyone tried this? I live on the edge of nowhere and would love to hook in so I can hang on to that signal for a little longer.

Does CD International make a cable that would assist you? http://www.cdint.com/
I'll have to take a look at the connector and see if I can figure out what kind it is.

Lot of choices...

I can see this is going to take someone with a lot more knowledge in this area than I have to figure this out.

I wonder what the connector in the snap-ins looks like?

Antenna Connector?

Was anyone ever successful in tracking down a place to obtain the antenna connector? I, too, would like to simply make a cable to plug my phone (LX VX8100) into the integrated Mini antenna for better reception in fringe areas.

Photo of Antenna Connector in Armrest

Here is a photo of the connector that I'm trying to locate the "mate" for.

Someone (not me...I'm at work) ought to try emailing CDInt (cdint@cdint.com) and see if they can identify that connector. Send them a link to this thread so they can see the pictures.

It has been a while since my days as a wireless engineer but I believe that is a mini smb connector. They used to make adapters for Nokia phones a long time ago.

Simultaneous with my previous post with the photo I had also e-mailed CDint. They are working on identifying the connector. Rasputinj, thanks for your thoughts, I'll alert CDint to attempt to confirm this.

CDint believes that is is not an smb connector and they continue to try to identify it. Does anyone else recognize it?

The center looks like a simple RF plug, like cable TV. Are you sure the other connectors aren't just for power, and the RF part is for antenna?

That round part in the middle is the antenna (I took apart my phone cradle to verify). But the connector is much smaller than a cable tv connector.

CDint originally didn't think it was a mini-SMB, but has reexamined the photo and now thinks it might be. I have a mini-SMB on it's way from CDint to test fit it. If it works I'll advise. Thanks go to "rasputinj" for originally suggesting it might be a mini-SMB.

I worked with Mini-SMB for years when I was a wireless engineer, and just recently build a Wireless Repeater setup for my office in the basement to get cell phone coverage. Search on Ebay you should be able to find many connectors. You can even get a connector that can attach to back of a phone. To help increase the signal level. I have one in my office and might play around with it to help with coverage in weak signal areas.
