Navigation & Audio Revisit: SIRIUS Antenna?
Revisit: SIRIUS Antenna?
Will the best install be to use the car antenna for the Sirius Satellite Radio; or, will I need to figure out a routing to put my magnet on the roof?
Can you do both with the existing car antenna? I would still like to be able to use the car radio.

IMO the cleanest and easiest is to connect to the in-car satellite antenna under the passenger seat. I have used it for my aftermarket XM radio for >6 months without any problems and I get excellent reception (even in my garage).
I went w/Sirius. I have the type that can move from mini to boombox. I ran the antenna wire though the dashboard up the driver side and the main magnetic piece just sits on dash no need to make it stay there forever. The base unit sits inside cupholder nicely. IMHO - Sirius offers more sporting events.
And the Scanguage, and the Gtech meter (accelerometer)....
Seriously, is there an aftermarket power buss or something that one can use to neatly hook up 12v power to all of these gadgets without millions of cig lighter plugs??

Just finished my install of an XPressRC using the sat antenna connection under the front seat and it works beautifully. The signal strength I am getting is the same as I get in my Land Rover which uses the mini-XM antenna on the roof. I live in Central Oregon. Using the built-in sure makes life easier.

I will be installing the same unit when my Clubman gets here.
What and where did you get your ant. wire?
What kind of mount did you do?
Does the connection under the seat let you share the XM radio and car radio on the built-in car antenna.
This is probably second nature if you are actually doing it, but I don't have my car yet. Will both radio systems still work if you tag this underseat connector?
Thanks!

? I wish you could have told that to the cop that pulled me over for speeding. My non S MINI just happened to be slowing down to 90!
Just under 4000rpm and hardly seems like its working hard. It all depends on how you want to drive the car.
I used the Kuda mount 092445 and then used the swivel mount that comes with the XpressRC. Hope that helps.
Yes, the various antennas are separate so you can use Tuner for AM/FM or AUX for XM radio. Connecting to the Sat antenna under the seat doesn't affect AM/FM
