Anyone use a USA Spec aux input?
My first question ever on this forum! And I'm sure the first of many...
I just installed a USA Spec auxiliary input into my 2004 Cooper. In theory, this thing is pretty neat - it plugs into the CD changer pre-wiring in the trunk and has two inputs that can be switched from the head unit (the head unit thinks the two inputs CD1 and CD2).
I got it so I could use BOTH my iPod and Sirius Sportster 5. Anyways, it arrived from Crutchfield and I put it in right away since I was pretty excited. But lo and behold, there was a constant buzzing, plus ground noise in step with engine revs. I tried ground loop isolators - one on each input - and it did nothing. I called Crutchfield and they promptly sent me another unit that I received this morning. Same story.
Has anyone done a similar install? Any idea what could be causing the noise? Any ideas on how to solve this, or other ideas on how to use both my iPod and Sportster?
Thanks in advance, guys!
Ed

An alternative is to get a DICE iPod adapter, which also includes its own aux input.

That could work, but I'd rather control my iPod from the iPod itself; in other words, I'm really looking for two aux inputs - one for the iPod and one for the Sirius. In theory, that's what the USA Spec box provides, but the noise is unacceptable.
The price is certainly right...
Hmm - so that just taps into the power and ground in the CD changer prewiring?
Anyone know which of the wires in the prewiring are power and ground?

So is that a ground loop isolator, then? I guess what I'm asking is, does it tap into the power leads, or does it tap into the actual audio signal?
If it's a ground loop isolator (tapping into the audio signal), I've already tried that and unfortunately it didn't work. :(
If it taps into the power leads for the CD changer prewiring, anyone know what color the wires are?
