Navigation & Audio When adding an AUX input, does the HK stereo have a choice for AUX?

When adding an AUX input, does the HK stereo have a choice for AUX?
seems to me, stereos that offer an aux input also have a "AUX" on their selector / dial. If my car didn't come with aux, how would my stereo recognize this signal?
