HD radio

I've seen these boxes you add it into your radio and
you have HD radio.

How would I go about adding this into the mini?

I was thinking wait for that box to be invented that
hooks into the CD changer but its looking like it will
be 2017 before its made.

I read about the sirus module located under the seat so
there must be an input there, but I'm figuring that's a
no go (?)

Can I use something like an in-line FM modulator for a hookup.
Where it hooks up to the antena wire behind the dash?
Is it a special antena wire or like normal?

Any ideas?

Oh, how would I change stations?

Hi Condor- note that the Dice unit isn't compatible with the R56, I'm assuming that since you're in the 2nd Gen forums that you're looking for HD for that? The only workable solutions that I've seen have been FM modulators, but to me the biggest benefit out of HD is the better-than-FM quality, unless you really want one of the HD2 stations. I'd guess the Sirus connection is similar to the CD changer connection and a no-go. The AUX port may work though, and might be a better signal than the FM Modulator, but you'd need to find an HD add-on that has a pre-out.

Here's a couple over at Crutchfield: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...0&tp=134&avf=Y http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...7&tp=134&avf=Y Looks like there's plenty to choose from that output both a regular audio signal and do FM modulation. The channel changing seems to happen with a remote, or by installing a panel on the dash, similar to a GPS type mount.

I forgot to mention I had the XM radio hooked into
the aux input. I was not happy with the way it sounded.

I think the answer is to just wait for these guys
to make an R56 version.

I will examine all those links though.

I don't do upgrades for the latest technology very often
and I don't mind waiting for the right thing to be invented
instead of doing it two times.

You guys are great!

I just realized it isn't 1970 anymore ha ha.
(the bike I got at 5 I actually rode until highschool)

I really like that thing from crutchfield.

When the thing is invented that works perfect in the mini
(like maybe through the CD changer and I can use the
radio buttons) I'll just put the old one in my CRX!

Sorry, I've got no experience with them... Google is your friend?

Seems like he likes it, although he's using it with the available PC connection to his car computer?

I added the factory HD (IBOC) tuner to my car, but unless you can find a used module it will run you around $500+ and getting a dealer to activate it will be very difficult as it is not an official retrofit.
