CarPuter coming soon!!!! 10.4" VGA LCD Touch screen!!!!!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ksid=p3907.m29

did my research on this unit. its made by "Shark" but the LCD is actually Samsung! 213 shipped new! only downside is its 4:3 format, but oh well. its gonna fit perfect in between the downtubes. im relocating the a/c controls to the glove box though.

Better double-check the measurements before you get started - that screen is a full two inches wider than the space between the downtubes.

It's possible that the screen might be narrower than the distance between the *outside* faces of the downtubes, so you might get it to fit by hacking up the downtubes.

it is. the actual panel itself it about 7.5" wide, not including the shell around the screen.

the plastic piece that surrounds the cut-out in the headliner for the sunroof, and has that piece on the front for sunroof button, i cut that, and its gonna get molded into that. im not too sure but ill find a way, i held them up there, and i think it looks nice with over head AC controls

the temperature thing last night after i cut and reconnected the wires read 7 degrees LOL, but this morning it was back to normal. i guess cutting the wires reset it.

Now you have me thinking about relocating my switches for a new stereo. Funny thing is, is that I was thinking about putting them in the same spot that you are before you said anything. Your setup is going to be sweet once it is all buttoned up. Keep up the great work and photos.

ya i held the a/c panel up there, and pictured how it would be..its gonna be nice

the toggles are staying in the stock location, just a little lower than they are now. the 10.4" screen's height will be from the top of the original radio location, and past the bottom of the a/c panel's stock location (not past it much though, .5-1" maybe at the most)

so the toggles will just be moved down a little.

just a hell of an impressive project, especially since its the 2nd version.

envy that you have the tools and the time to execute this.

is it hard to remove the gear shifter (not just the ****, the whole stick thing) sorry im not technical with that stuff LOL.

but that freakin thing is in the way of getting my box out...i can build it in the car, but it'd be alot easier to get the box out to finish building it

It is not a hard job...you do need to lower the exhaust though...check Alta's site for the instructions on their SSK...
