AUX volume w/ iPod is REALLY low....
I got the mp3 AUX installed today, and the sound is REALLY low. I bought a gold audio dubbing cable from radio shack to connect my ipod to the AUX jack. I have pretty high quality mp3s on my ipod, but the radio volume needs to be turned up really high to get a decent volume level. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it? The sound quality of the mp3s is not diminished, but just the volume. Oh yeah, i also have the HK system.

Jeremy

i have a similar issue but the music doesn't have to be turned up THAT loud.. but louder than cds and radio. i'm just used to it.. and i barely listen to cds or radio in my car so it doesn't make a difference to me.
With the Aux installed, you now have an extra setting available to set the aux level. Cycle through the settings for beass/treble/balance and you will find a new one called AUX LEVEL. It goes from 0 to 5, 5 adding the most gain. Set it to 4 or 5 using the **** on the HU. This should help bring the level in line with everything else.
I have an Archos Jukebox, and I have the Aux Level set to 4.

Thanks, i'll try that. So that doesn't affect any of the other settings does it? I don't have to go back and forth switching levels for AUX and cd/radio. I just set the AUX level and that's it.

After I had installed my Aux jack and tried it out I too ran into the low level. Being that I knew the HU also 'memorizes' the tone and balance settings for each input (radio/CD/CD changer) I began messing with the tone settings for the aux, and lo and behold, there was a new, undocumented setting. Perfect! Now everything was at the same level.
I wonder just how many more 'easter eggs' are hidden in this car!
