I'm thinking of putting in an aftermarket radio. Do people buy the stock ones? What is a good price to start it for on EBAY? Any help is appreciated. It is coming out of a 2003. NON "S"

How can I find out what type of head unit it is exactly?

 

somewhere on NAM you can find when they switched to AUX capable HUs. it was during the 03 model year. that's the only thing you really need to know for sure IMO.

There is a sticker on the top that shows mfgr and build month. It's an Alpine.
On ebay they go for $50-$150, depending on the whims of bidders. $75 is a good bet.
Note that most all head units are the same, Cooper vs S and H/K vs. non. In the GP and some other later cars, they got the euro style head unit - different look, same functionality.

 

Thanks, I just put it up on EBAY with a reserve of 79.00. I just want to get something out of it to help cover the cost of the new head unit. I appreciate all the info and suggestions from everyone.

 

what build date was aux capable?

 

I'm not sure but the build date for my mini is 08/03

 

08/03 is fine; GBMINI#2 was 03/03 and it had aux input.

(of course, no pre'05 has MP3 playback from internal CDs)

 

what's the sticker say on the HU?

 

I haven't taken it out yet. Still using it till the auction ends. Sorry.
