Thanks for the invite Babs
I make a pretty mean Chili, but don't have the room to bring all the cook gear, are there facilities there to cook on? I am staying at the Fontana Inn in one of the rooms. Let me know if there is a stove available, and I will cook up a pot?
Otherwise what do you need for us to bring?

hey, as long as I don't enter the cookoff - insurance won't be needed! Me and the kitchen don't get along at all. Me and the drive-thru: we're best buds

We have secured a great venue which can hold 150-200 people, so this isn't small beans! (Sorry.....couldn't resist!) More details to follow.....

I think the cookoff should somehow coincide with the shootout. It's too good to PASS up!

Unhappily I will not the Dragon Run this year but would love a couple of tee shirts and an apron. My next trip out that way will be June 2005 for a session at Penland and a Family renuion in Raleigh. I'll need something to keep the excitement alive until then.

I thought Chili and exhaust went really well together. Just seems natural. I'll be there, but I have to stay out of the kitchen. After the Jello Disaster 2002, I haven't been able to cook.

Mrs. teampajn makes some GREAT chili! So she is trying to figure out how to get it accomplished. As far as the t-shirt logo, I'd like to see it as soon as you have one ready.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you...BUT it depends on the type of room you've got at the Fontana. I know that the cabins have full kitchens and there are plenty of fire pits in the picnic area. HOWEVER, might I suggest making your chili at home packing it in a cooler and heating it up once arriving? I know there will be a way to heat the chili once there. OR, cook the meat; bring your crock pot and make it in the crock pot while running the Dragon???
Now, if you feel the need to make on site, I'll be happy to bring along my camp stove...but you'll have to bring the pots and equiptment. PM me and let me know if you'll need to borrow my camp stove.
I'm adding you to the list of potential entrants.
Hugs to all,
PB

Reheated chili? That's just cheating yourself out of goodness. Nothing beats fresh chili my friends.
I will be bringing my own crockpot and pans, etc. I am assuming that we have access to electrical outlets?.?.?.? I may need to bring my coleman propane stove too. Are we allowed to use those things indoors?
I will be handing out perscriptions for prilosec/tagament/pepcid/protonix with each bowl of my chili.
Be afraid, very afraid.

You will have access to electric. No, you may not use a propane stove inside...but I promise you that outside won't be far away.
As for "reheated" chili versus FRESH...I have always believed that chili is better the second day...but that's just me and I'm a judge so there.

Personally, I've always been fond of the chili found at Wendy's fast food restaurants. Call me exotic, but it just has that special flavor that I can't seem to find anywhere else.
This story might explain it though....
Why Wendy's tastes so darn good...

FYI....there's a poll posted on Mini2.com asking about preferred beverages for this get together. Feel free to hop over there and put your vote in so we can have an idea of what to supply.

Reheated Chili is the BEST!!! Honestly, chili isn't any good unless it's been aged at least 24 hours!!! You gotta let the flavors soak in through and through!!!!

Yeah, both of us here are particularly fond of 2 day old chili. If she brings it I'm sure it will be day old chili. Hers won't make you breathe fire. She always has the hot pepper next to it for season to taste. You don't need it to burn going in AND coming out to be a killer chili. I think she is smelling victory already LOL.

I don't think that's victory she going to be smelling!
