Minzilla, I'm planning on that too...basically doing about half the cooking at home, putting it on ice, and then re-heating with some additional ingredients on site in a crock pot.

Just so we are covered, the people that are bringing salad should also bring dressing..A wild thought I know. But I went through my head...

Yeah....we have a surplus of crackers! Let's DO build mini auto-x tracks for the RC mini MINIs! Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!
I'd much rather have an RC drag race instead of an Autox... Nobody will be able to beat my rocket propelled classic Mini!!!

Hi, tjockey! Welcome to North American Motoring and especially to the Chili Party! Thanks for asking about the dressings! I say bring both leaded and unleaded!

I've got some mini pylons, unless ya wanna use crackers. We'd have to keep stacking them up though because I know some of you guys are gonna hit 'em.

We're bringing 3 Minis (2 new and one classic). I think we can manage to fit the mini pylons in. I have to find all of my 9 year old son's RC MINIs and get them charged up so I can play with them. I don't know how many he has. His name is Cooper by the way.

sndwave, the problem with empties is they move when hit by larger cars. You would have to leave some fluid in them and no one wants to do that

Can we race different scale RCs at the same time? I've got one huge one -- I think it's over 2 feet long -- and one really mini MINI. I'll be fun to see what scale is best at Auto-X.

Ok, cracker autox aside....I have some wonderful updates.

First, please let it be known that the current count for party goers is 111. Yes that is ONE HUNDRED ELEVEN peoples. That includes the 14 entrants into the chili cook-off!!!!

Keep those RSVPs coming, it helps me know if I need to have the WHOLE Rec Center or just the Dam Room.

Party begins at 6pm. If you are entering chili, please be on time.
NOTE: Chilis will need to be provided to the judges between 6:30 and 7pm, so you will have to make sure that you have them ready and hot by then. Please prepare the chili ahead of time and bring it completed to the party.

Clover and I have been working really hard on this and we can't wait to have everyone enjoy our block party turned insane chili cookoff. We look forward to meeting and hanging out with each anf everyone of you.

And if you haven't RSVP'd please do.

Hugs,
PB

Hmmmm, When can I get into this room to start brewing my batch of addictive (like crack) chili? I am going to need some time to simmer. Can't wait to see the aprons!

Thanks for organizing all this

It is the current plan to be setting up the room between 4:30 and 5pm. How much time do you need to simmer? I'm sure we can work something out.

Hugs,
PB

My chili takes about 3 hours to make from start to finish. It's very little impact though. Basically what I need is a place to put a cutting board and a safe spot to put my portable Coleman grill (to cook and simmer with).

Once I get into the event venue I can just throw the AWARD WINNING CHILI into my crock pot to keep warm (since you won't let me bring highly flamable propane grills into the Dam Room,,,Booooo!).

If someone at Fontana will let me borrow some counter space I'd much appreciate it! Heck, a picnic table would be perfect! Are there are picnic tables there near the Dam Room?

This way I won't have to transport a whole crock pot of chili down the Dragon. The score would be The Dragon 1 : Chili in the Mini 0 if you know what I mean.

Can't wait to head south!

Ok, here are some basic ideas.

1. there is a pavillion behind the rec center with tables....OUTSIDE.
2. Perhaps you might want to think about making your chili, putting it in a ZIPLOC bag and bringing it down. CHILI 0 / MINI WINS
3. We have a cabin at the Fontana...not sure how it will be seen a judge letting you use my kitchen...but if push comes to shove and the above doesn't work for you...we'll talk.

Did hubby PM you our cells? Give us a call when you head down if you still have concerns.

Hope this helps,
PB

The devil just talked to me. I need to tell everyone so I am not tempted to listen. He wanted me to enter the chili contest. He wanted me to take one can or hormels chili and add one bottle of Dave's Insanity hot sauce and hand it out for all to sample.

Thanks...I just had to get this off my chest and protect all your taste buds/tongues.
