Can't remember if I posted this before, but for those who like watching online auctions,
Hemmings is pretty neat,
and this 06 JCW was very cool in particular: https://www.hemmings.com/auction/2006-mini-cooper
And,
popular yootoob personality DougDeMuro recently started up a BaT competitor,
has a boring name
and as of yet hasn't featured any MINI's until just recently
with this '12 R59 in Laguna Green: https://carsandbids.com/auctions/KPQ...cooper-s-coupe

I can see where there may be room for a BaT competitor, with BaT just acquired by Hearst Autos (I hope they keep their simple model with no advertising, and don't lose their way under big corporate ownership....).
But, really, was DeMuro unconscious when he came up with "Cars and Bids" for the name?!
I keep going back and looking at how nice this car is. The owner seems to have made a selection of engine mods to enjoy some spirited street driving without getting into temperamental engine behavior. Love seeing cars like this!
I’ve been on searchtempest (shows most of craigslist) for almost 3 years. BAT, EBAY, etc. etc. Is it me, or is it getting harder and harder to find a 2005-06 JCW. I am a little specific on color hyper blue, black, royal grey. Aero kit is preferable. Price $6000-$10k mileage 60-110k with good maintenance.
If anyone comes across anything, or knows someone that has one for sale, please post here for me. I have found some on other random sites like this one
Those 05-06 JCWs in good condition are definitely getting hard to find, which is probably why prices are slowly inching up for “good” ones.
In addition to AutoTempest, forums, and FB buy sell groups, I would also suggest Searching Facebook Marketplace by manually changing location to get approximately a nationwide search.
You need to act quickly when they do come up. I still see them available, but agree the good ones are harder to find. And if you are limiting to those three colors, it may be impossible.
That said, don’t give up. Took me 3 years to find a Checkmate JCW slicktop, and found an absolute gem.
Thanks for the heads up on those. Much appreciated. The red and the silver don’t quite fit the bill, I did a FaceTime with the Astro black, definitely a solid car, but two drawbacks were transport to boston (add $1400) and no major service done like clutch and supercharger. Don’t want any expensive surprises unless it’s reflected in the selling price. I am on another one currently, for $6500 and it looks real good until I add the transport ($1800) but I may pull the trigger anyway if nothing else shows up soon. Only reason it’s probably still available is it’s 20 mins from the Canadian border lol.
I just started looking on Facebook but so far looks like a lot of rat boxes. It seems like the place to list your car after you’ve beat the daylights out of it. But maybe I’ll get lucky. Thanks for the posts...and future posts.
When we see these early Gen 1 JCW's, no matter how nice they are we are always hoping for that little something extra. For this car, the body kit would have put it over the top. There has been a blue 2003 JCW with 27671 miles on it hanging out on ebay for a while now which looks pretty nice. The original asking price was $21k but it has since been lowered to $16,995. Check it out: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Mini-C...%7C1000%7C2500
This car is for sale again (no surprise) for a very high asking price (no surprise) and once again the exact same description is used and most of the pictures are also the same.
A fair amount of digital ink has been spilled on this car so all I will say is that any potential buyer needs to do their homework and understand what this car is before making an offer.
the best thing I can say is that the original pictures of it in a GP cover confirmed for me that a GP cover would fit over the JCW wing.
not a “good deal” listing, but a notable/notorious JCW that will likely pop up in people’s searches.
I know that car since the first owner. It’s not a real a Challenge car, just a modified R53 with a plaque that the owner made and put on. No idea how along the line that story with that car came about, but it’s stuck since it’s passed hands.
I was going to buy the car when it was for sale in 2016, it was offered to me substantially less but I passed in the end.
If you’re serious about buying that R53 feel free to PM me and I can share what I know about it.
relevant post from the past on this “challenge” car.
Was hot on this one for a minute, never liked the electric blue until I saw this one. Like the clear tail lense with this color, but the red reflectors on the bumper ruin it. Owners has had it for 10 years, because it’s an 04 it’s lacking a few things like upgraded brakes, LSD etc.
just to far away for me (New Mexico) to legitimately check out. Like the painted wheel arches, full aero kit. Looking for something just like this, except hopefully an 06 with half the miles

Agreed. Not their best color but the black wheels offset the pale in-your-face surrender of that blue somewhat. It's what we used to call "baby blue" back in the Dark Ages of the 1970s and 80s. Always the second to last car left on the lot behind brown.
Says in the blurb that it "will impress the fussiest buyer". I would have been more impressed if they had cleaned the rubber mats and under the hood!
Still, a nice MINI with lower mileage.
Looks like a pretty clean car. Agree, it's so easy to clean the mats and make it look 100% better.
At least it has the "heated factory true sport seats" - and not those darn knockoff sport seats!.
