Trying to steer clear of the N14...but my mechanic buddy in NM has an '09 R55 for sale; he's done some expensive engine repairs already. I may buy it from him; we'll see. He also has a '92 for sale.
Awesome stuff Aero! Why does everyone use stinking facebook? I hate it and always have, and have never used it. I figured I'd only ever get on it if I wanted to lose my wife and/or my job. Am I gonna have to risk all that and get on there just so I can get a Mini? The answer is a pretty clear 'yes'.
At that price, I would expect a full factory JCW, which it is not.
gotta justify my constant looking at cars for sale otherwise it really would be a waste of time.
I asked the seller for contact info and he referenced the same Facebook page and said to message him. So it looks like you’ll have to figure out how to contact them via FB. The seller’s name is Kurt Hammond and he also said someone was coming to look at the car today as well.

that all being said, I can see wanting a “factory JCW”, but I’m not sure when the R55 JCW became factory.
I know that 2009MY was the first R56 factory JCWs. Also, I know the JCW aerokit was not initially developed for the R55 and came later (was released with the Rally edition which came out in October 2009).
the difficulty with these early R56 era cars is that just like the early R53 era cars, MINI sold a JCW tuning kit that was dealer installed. Thus, without getting the details of this car sorted you can’t make a “JCW” or not call.

In my opinion, I wouldn't spend what that character is asking for that particular car.

If $8500 is your budget this car isn’t a bad choice, but the fact that $12k gets you a 12-13 with Recaro seats means I’d not be interested.

You know the screwed up thing here? Since I joined that idiot box Facebook, now when I click on a link to one of the advertised cars, it won't even let me look at it; it blocks me. WTF?
I was talking with a guy with at GP2 in Dallas; I'm not allowed to get anything without seats for the kids. And I think $17K is a bit much for a GP2 unless it has less than 10K miles and in pristine condition, one owner. Just my opinion though. Actually that's the GP2 I was emailing the guy with.

By the way, other than FB, I’ve been using AutoTempest to find cars on CL using a nationwide search.
as far as Marketplace, there is a time requirement before they allow access, maybe try logging out or using a different browser. As far as the GP2, I’ve only seen a couple ever sell below $17k and they definitely were “rough” aka tracked hard. Still sounds like a Regular JCW or JCW Clubman would be best.

This one is a good contender, but has the N14 (I admit I'm scared of an N14 motor):

looking at the VIN decoder this car was a pretty highly optioned MINI that was likely $30k new. It has Leather, LED headlights, and a few other good options.

With so many recent listings posted here I don't know if this 2006 JCW is a repeat. Anyway, as of today it is still not sold.

Not a repeat and a great find!
Damn good spec on that car and looks in very fine fettle --- if it was a slicktop I'd be tempted to swap it for mine.
Might try and go test drive it since it's only an hour away!

Leather JCW dash + downtubes are rarely seen.

WMW plug wires + JCW strut bar, it appears to have been well maintained.
