Nice car...nice price. I'm not a fan of the split exhaust as I've always loved the centered, twin tail pipe look of the "S" and JCW cars.... and.....I definitely would reinstall that steering wheel air bag. You'll only need it but once. My wife is alive today due to that inflatable device.

 

I know auctions can't technically count as good deals... but what does the deal finding crew think of this R53? I'm more than a little tempted, but crossing the country to go retrieve it will most likely talk me out of it. =P

I'd reckon not many left like this in showroom condition as the pix seem to indicate.

If it was on BaT though, it might pull that price, I wouldn't be surprised.

The car is appealing on many levels to me and if I was closer I'd deffo throw out a solid offer to the seller.

 

My personal feeling is that the market for this car is not quite as strong as the seller is hoping for...and I am a huge fan of special edition, Gen I cars.

But, the market takes odd swings and anomalies do occur --- and in many cases the venue can make a big difference. The listing for that Checkmate JCW has expired and although it is possible that it sold, I doubt it did. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it pop up on BaT where there are more eyeballs and bigger wallets.

That car is only about an hour drive from me! I actually have a set of those 18" JCW R105 wheels ( paid $1600 for them new) on my JCW and think they compliment the car well. Either way, to change out those wheels with the tail lights is a pretty easy swap...and I'm sure you'd be $$$ ahead after selling those wheels. Heck, the wheels and the body kit make up almost half the asking price of the car!
