its not a Quattro. it would be nice but i dont need it. front wheel drive is just fine for me. and the horsepower is only 180 so it is not to much power for front wheel drive.

any thoughts on the MINI?

I think what might scare most folks off is 35K miles on a car only a year old, and only maybe a year or so from going out of warranty. If you want to sell it you might need to discount it to compensate for that.

very good points, i understand what you are saying. the car does still have 2.5 years or (30 months) left on warrenty. i figured people looking for a used MINI would rather have a 2005 (revised fresh cooper look, new getrag 5 speed, and very solid build quality) with 35000 highway miles on it instead of a buggy rattle prone 2002-2004 with 25000 miles for a couple hundred dollars less. what would you guys (and gals) pay for a car like this? im just curious. i dont want to be missing my price point. how far off am i. its just that it really is a very very good car. i just cant afford two right now, otherwise belive me i wouldnt be selling it. and someone out there is going to end up with a very nice MINI for a very attractive price.

I sold my 2003 Cooper with 27k miles and FAR fewer options than yours for $16250 in the summer of '05. I think your price is very fair. You're not the only one who's had trouble selling a flawless high-quality MINI at a fair price lately, and frankly I'm very puzzled. It did take almost six weeks to sell mine, and posting every other day on craigslist. Autotrader.com and cars.com were completely useless wastes of money.

I see that you have it listed on Cleveland craigslist for $19900. I would drop that price immediately by at least $2000. And take some more photos! Craigslist lets you post four, and NAM doesn't limit you at all.

This is not true. It has 15,000 miles left on the warranty. The warranty is for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Good luck!

Flav, If I would have been in the market for a MINI/MCS and had seen your add, I would have definately been interested.

A 1yr old MINI (loaded) for less than $17,000! I don't understand! To hell with the high milage. You can't put that many miles on a 1yr old car without it being mostly highway miles.

The problem had to be the time of year. I don't understand why a MINI enthusiast did'nt go after this car. And to see that you replaced it with a TT says that you're an auto enthusaist and definately took care of this MINI.

So it's a snow belt car, so what! A well kept car in the north does'nt corrode. Hell, a not so cared-for car in the north does'nt corrode. Not for about 10 yrs. And MINis are warranted for rust & corrosion for 10yrs...Correct me if I'm wrong.

And than there's the theory about getting a brand new MINI for only 5k more. Only my ***! 5k is alot of money to alot of people and that's not including the additional sales tax/insurance on 5k more. Plus add to the fact that alot of people REFUSE to buy a new car because of depreciation. OH! I forgot! MINIs don't depreciate...Well this one sure did!

I'm curious as to what the dealer's asking price is going to be and what they actually get out of it. You ott-to keep tabs on what happens to it (price-wise).

Flav, I think you did as well as could be expected selling your car to a dealer. Just too many MINIs on the market right now. Good luck with the TT. I almost bought a TT cabrio when shopping for the MINI. Nice cars.

Flav, you won't be happy when you read my story. I live near Akron and have been looking for a car like yours. I purchased an '04 MCS for $16,500 less than 2 weeks ago. Had I seen yours first, I would have been very definitely interested. First, because I wanted a Cooper over an MCS, second, your car is exactly the color I was looking for (mine is PW/PW) and, third, yours is one year newer. However, I just couldn't pass up an MCS with all three packages and a set of snow tires for $16,500. (By the way the car is very nice and has 23k miles.)

Now, my theory on the prices... most folks who have lusted after MINIs have purchased (witness the stocks now at MINI dealers). Although it's not a real good comparison, the same thing happened with PT Cruisers. When they first came out people were paying over MSRP, after purchasing one, three years later I could hardly give it away. The bottom had fallen out of the market! The MCS that I purchased was not from an enthusiast but someone who had grown tired of a small car and moved up to a BMW 330i. These sellers are eager to sell and not worried about getting top dollar for their "baby".

yeah, my car was listed on the internet for $16,975. just hours after i sold it to the dealer for $16000 two people called me and would have paid $16975 cash for it. i could have used another $1000. i dont want to think about it.

Don't worry about it Flav - it's done and it all happens a certain way for a reason.
