WILL you be doing modifications to your MINI or Mini? yes, I've been looking at Palo Uber projects mainly: air intake, light bar, coilovers, exhaust, and wheels. I've also been looking into Defi gauges, Alta intakes, the black vinyl that covers the Chrome on the headlights (crap I can't remember what that's called), strut bars, turbo timers, boOst controllers, short shifters, and exhaust. Finally, two things that will be done asap will be the install of my 2 10" JL Audio subs and amp from my previous Subaru and limo tint. I'm going for the sleeper look. Black/CF exterior, black windows, black wheels, red calipers, debadged, smoked tails. I think the only thing that might give it away is the JCW roof spoiler...

WHY did you get a MINI or Mini? Well, a friend who owns a 2004 Stage 2 Mini convinced me to take a look at them. Not to mention riding in his car gives me the biggest grin. I've owned 5 Subarus before this all with AWD and love the handling and the power of AWD. However, I kinda wanted to try something new, smaller, and fun right out of the box.
WHAT part of town will you be seen in? Golden/Lookout Mtn/Genesee/ Evergreen/Denver/Boulder/Northglenn... I'll be in Colorado til January 2ndish then I'll be stationed somewhere on the Coast hopefully.
WHAT types of events would you likely be involved in? (choices are things like weeknight events, food rides, mountain rides, autocross, track days, weekend events, food only, tech talks, etc. Feel free to make up your own.) Anything and everything... I mainly enjoy, food rides, mtn rides are a big thing with me, meets, track days, weekend events... basically anything where I can meet new Mini owners and gain some new knowledge
WHAT can MINI5280 do for you? Help me out of my noObie stage, haha. Honestly, I have very little knowlege of Mini let alone FWD (never ventured out past Subaru and AWD) so I guess that's what you could help me with.
Other bits and pieces. I'm 21 (well 22 in August) and have joined the Coast Guard. This is how I am able to afford this and most likely some of those options will change slightly (I think, lol). As of right now I have not ordered the Mini, but plan to wait til September because I would like it to be here the day after I graduate basic, but before Christmas, haha. I ship out for basic on Oct 28th and will graduate Dec 21st. On Dec. 22, my new Mini will hopefully be built and waiting for me at Ralph Schomp. Finally, on January 2ndish I'll be moving to a Coastal state where I'll be stationed.

My sig answers some of the questions. Just picked 'er up last Sat. at R.Schomp. Vince Quick was our MA and he did an outstanding job. A great intro into the world of MINIs. Joined 5280 a few days ago.

No name yet for my baby. Many come to mind in the vein of 'light speed' and fun overload. I don't speed, mind you. Of course getting UP to speed can be fun.

Don't know about mods yet. Too soon for that. I do like the checkerboard sunroof and mirrors tho (see gallery). I got a MINI after test driving a Saturn Sky and and Honda 2000. The sky was pretty but not close to the smile factor of driving a MINI. You have to rev the 2000 up a gazillion RPM to get any torque. I had my mind made up while driving OUT of the dealer lot during the MINI test drive!

I motor daily between Coal Creek Canyon and Louisville/Broomfield (Sun Micro/Storage Tek). We're headed for MITM2 and can't wait to meet other MINIacs.

Hope to make it to the burger place on Sheridan tomorrow (for lunch) to get the ball rolling with fellow 5280s. I'll even have to ask what 5280 means!

 

You will have a blast at MITM.

As for 5280, Denver is the Mile High City. One Mile is 5280 ft. Therefore, MINI5280. We get that a lot, but normally from flatlanders, not locals.

Taek I-25 to I-70. From there, take 70 to Sheridan and then make a right. Jim's is up a little way from the interstate, but no road construction that far south

Hello Colorado people. I am moving from Los Angeles to Fort Collins in about a week. Hopefully I will be able to get my car out there. I wont be on the black rims in the picture, instead I will put my stock rims on. I am Super Big on Autocross and I am pretty active with my club C3. Just looking to see how the Colorado MINI community is.

 

Yes, there is a large and active MINI community here. This week, our 2nd Annual MITM MINIs in the Mountains at Copper Mountain Resort. Timing is everything. Coming up:

• Colorado Conclave - September in Arvada. Biggest British Car gtg in the state each year
• YY Yalla Yalla - MINI5280 annual event in October
• R4TC Run for the Corners with New Mexico MINIs in October
• MUTA MINIs under the Arches, in Moab with Utah MINIs in October
• and more and more.

I did have some input, but he did a great job!!! and it is my new "favorite" car. You just have to see it.... (maybe I can get some pics on the site.)
First trip... Lafayette to Pagosa Springs (fun... a lot of fun...) Should have probably made that trip on a tuesday... saturday was a little busy... (so many slow cars and RV's on the 285 route.)
Next trip... Glacier NP (sept)
