What Did You Drive Before Your R56?

Here's a question for everyone -- what vehicle did you trade or sell (or wreck ) before buying your new R56 MINI?

(I'm going to be selling a black '01 BMW 5 series.)

I drove a 1999 VW jetta it too was a "brand new" redesign that year, I loved the car It was the first car I bought when I graduated college,I only had it to the dealer for 2 issues in 7+ years an o2 sensor, and a window regulator. It was red with black interior, I had every option on it except leather, I sold it with 60,000 miles on it in late december to the 1st person to answer my classified ad. I'd still drive it today if it were better on gas, all I could muster was 22 or so city and maby 27 hwy.

Now SS/B MC cold weather, wood and cream interior, 16" bridge spokes.

My MINI is taking over daily driver duties from a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 that I am currently trying to sell. Hopefully it'll get sold before the MCS gets here!

It was a surprisingly fun car for the price when I got it, but Ford really dropped the ball when they didn't give the US the Euro version based on the Mazda3 platform. Instead, the version we have here is just another plain econobox.

I had an 06 Lexus IS250. I gave it to the Wife so I could get the Mini. It is a nice car. Handles well, drives likes it on rails, has good go mojo, but it just was not fun. It lacks character.

You know, most men my age buy expensive sports cars for there mid-life crisis. And all I have wanted for over a year was a Mini. Something with character. Something I can personalize. Something that is just fun. Something with only TWO DOORS!!

VW Jetta

I will be trading in, or selling privately, a 2000 Jetta GLX. It was a love/hate relationship from the getgo. I loved the entire driving experience BUT, it was in the shop at least 25 times during the first three years. Rattles, a whiney transmission, more rattles, sensors going off for no reason, did I mention rattles and a host of other annoying things. The district service manager gave me an extra year on my warranty and the dealership took care of virtually all issues well past the warranty period. The car now has 110,000 miles. Oddly enough, for the past 60,000 miles nothing beyond typical maintenance and old age issues has gone wrong. I'm a bit nervous about buying a first year production model again, but hey, living on the edge keeps me feeling young! Of course it could also turn the rest of my hair grey. Nice Mini, please be a nice reliable Mini!!

I drove a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee before getting the MCS. Figured 180K miles was a pretty good run .

98 BMW M3 to 07 MCS. Moving from years of rear wheel drives, I now can really feel the torque steer. Is that also how some of you feel, or is it just me...
