Fun Indiana Roads!

Post the best Routes you have come up with to Motor your MINI!

I started one on the MINICCI site but it does not get much action so here goes on NAM.

If you map the directions on Google, you can link us to it.

How about a rating system also.

Fun Factor (1-5) / Road Conditions (1-5)

Any other bright ideas let me know!

I'm headed out West on Sunday to do a little covered bridge touring so maybe I'll find something new and exciting!

Oh, please! Someone find some fun roads in Indiana...

The best I've come up with are some back roads in Hendricks Co...but it's more of a slow scenic drive than a fun-run.

That's what I get for living downtown, I suppose.

I like driving state road 39 between Monrovia and 67. Speed limits are fairly high for a windy road and my mini devours them :-).
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,0.220757&z=12
Becareful at the end though you can get airborne or squirrelly over the last big rise near 67. It drops into a turn after the rise I recommend driving it once first before giving it the marbles. Let me know if you wanna go for a drive sometime!!! Enjoy and Motor on!!!

Fun Factor (5) / Road Conditions (4.5)

P.S. Avoid 39 between US 40 and I-70 construction detour is on Non Mini Friendly farm roads!!

I live out in Hendricks. There are some neat little runs, just short enough to get into trouble.

I'm heading to bloomington today, I'll hit up 39, thanks.

If you go to Danville and take Jefferson off the square. Follow it left ( 40 degree angle) to Blake and then onto Cartersburg road. You'll pass Twin bridges. GREAT little road. Few spots to "safely" do about 100. Do it slow first though and get a feel for it. You have to know roads pretty well to push like that. Rarely any more than a few cars on teh road between Danville and Plainfield. We should all take some drives!

I used to ride SR62 from Madison to Dillsboro and back on my Katana when I lived in Madison.

Lots of fun!

I haven't driven it in years.... will have to go back and visit with my new (to me) Mini!

If you're looking for an interesting drive in Indiana then this event later in the month in Northern Indiana is for you:
http://www.michianabrits.com/tea_vicarage.htm
I started the event in 1993 and ran it singlehandedly until we moved to Virginia in 2000.....it's good to see that it's still going strong. It usually will have a fair mix of British Cars including MINI's at the event. check it out if you're in the area.

I have been on that streach of road and I would agree that it is a nice ride.

Best rides in IN

I like Rt-162 going East as you turn off RT-231 south of Dale going to Santa Claus,IN & Holiday World Theme park. It straightens out just east of the park but continues to be a nice country drive!!

The road winds thru overgrown trees like your pict but is wide enough and banks to let you cut it loose. You pass Lincoln State park where Lincoln spend his boyhood and it has great winding roads but speed is restricted.
Give it a try...

Thanks for the info. Think I have found most of these, but I want to check them out to make sure.

Also check out the MINI Motoring App where others have posted their favorite roads.

I found a book at my local library called "Scenic Drives, Indiana". I am going to check out what they call the Brown County Loop the week of July 22nd. I will post here how it goes.

If it works out to be a good drive let us know we might want to get the MINICCI group out for a drive.

Story loop

As some have already mentioned the story ind. loop is a good one. If you start in Bloomington st. Rd. 446 takes you across lake Monroe down to 135 and back up through Brown county to 46 and back to Bloomington. Sidewalksam has already posted a link for this route I believe. For the next month or so this should also be one of the most scenic drives in ind. with the trees changing. Just be aware of non spirited drivers in town for the fall season.
Fun factor 5/roads 4

Moved to Indy few months back. Let's setup a Brown County Spirited Drive for August. Anyone up for it? Route 135 Maybe? That's the only one I have tried so far.

May be hard to find many other people going through the national forums. If you are not already a member or have at least checked into it, "minicci" does several club drives each year. Post on website and their facebook page, always looking for suggestions and ideas for drives and such.
Welcome to Indy!

Thanks for pointing me to the right direction. The run is setup for August 1st. Mostly around Brown County.
