Wait for it..., wait... ..., wait... ..., Ah, there it is!

Great photos of the R56 Dave, thanks for sharing them with us!

Drove to a different location in Alviso and waited for what seemed forever. I was hoping to catch the pinkish hues on the eastern horizon at sunset. The sunset behind me had pretty much fizzled out and I was about to give up waiting when the pink hue magically appeared. I rushed getting these two shots since I knew this lighting would only last for a minute or two.

Screw the wheels.
The lighting is great. And the Photochomping isn't too obvious.
I'm glad Dave B. took advantage of a sundown near the Superstitions?

Thats when it evolves to post procesing and becomes an entirely new set of minute details to look for (and it takes a much keener, and much retraining of the eye to pick up on the small bits)

I'm not sure how near I was to that. I was in the Tonto national forest near Saguaro Lake on Bush Highway.

One more (a sunrise).

So I did okay on the photochompin'? Feel free to critique in the "Seeking advice..." thread as I still have much to learn too.

Info on the wheels installed on my car can be found here.

Dave: nice work on the photos and the processing. After being in Arizona I know what you mean about capturing those critical moments as the color shifts.

RE: the sunset at alviso
Did you do anything special to capture the detail in the car with the backlighting?

I bracketed 3 shots ~2 stops apart. Layered them together using the DRI tutorial I posted a link to previously.

In a nutshell, I exposed once for the sky, another for the brush and road, then lastly for the side of the car facing the camera. I had to use the levels and do a gamma equiv on the layer that had the side of the car because it was too bright and looked like I had a fancy flash setup like someone I know. It however retained the detail on the wheels nicely. The rest was a curves adjustment on each layer. I'd be happy to share the psd file with you if you're interested in dissecting what I did. Let me know if any of descriptions are not written too clear.

It's good to see other members posting!

I'm posting this only because it was at sundown, sort of have color (been nothing for awhile ).

They only cared about getting a ride.

Cool, I started a page.

Since Kurt's just too busy either at the track or winning photo contests with his top-of-the-line new fancy-smancy camera to contribute beautiful Northern AZ photos, I'll pitch in here a bit to help out. <Triumph> I keed, I keed </Triumph>

Kurt, I liked the photo above better than what you entered, but what do I know anyway ya winner. Congratulations!

Anyway, I've been needing to clean up the memory card on my point & shoot camera and this is what I found.

If you ever go to Northern California, make a stop in Santa Cruz. It's an wonderful place to take in...
Natural Bridges Beach

Lighthouse Point / Steamer Lane

Stunning San Jose sunrises (Do you hear the call Dave B.?)

Oh that's right, a Mini is suppose to be in the photos, Dohhh!

He's inspired...

Thanks for standing in for me!
I just logged on, did I win?

Tonight at Firebird Raceway:

That's Carolyn Kauhna (I not sure on spelling) going past, the only racing MINI Sunday, really all weekend.

Too grainy for me.

And the obligatory sunset without any stupid car in it shot.

I better click "new posts" next.

I like the surfer shot best.
Thanks for posting something. I was hoping someone else would "take over" for awhile.
