Gas Station Photo
That's a gorgeous photo. I love the contrast between light and dark, and between the colours and the Black/White of the MCS. Very nicely done.
We have Sunoco stations here in Canda, but our fuel grades are 87, 89, 91 and 94. ( I love me some Sunoco Ultra!)

Thanks, I'll post up some more different style shots I took. I just really liked this one, like you said, the light/dark, the Cooper black/white, love it

By umbrella lights you mean flashes with umbrella diffusers right? Black cars were sent by the devil for photographers to try to light, its so freaking hard. It is like trying to fire a flash to light the surface of a mirror, not going to happen. The only way to light a black car is to light what is around it so you see reflections. Lighting the gas station ceiling was a good call but isn't noticeable with the ambient light mixed in. You will have to crank your strobes way up and stop down a good bit to cut out the ambient light, as well as using the fastest shutter speed you can sync with (1/250th or possibly 1/500th).
You could also try firing the flashes bare and pretty strong onto the car, that will give you smaller hot spots to remove in post. Good luck!

haha. i feel sorry for you as a fellow college student having to pay that much for gas. i live in the sunny south right next to one of the pipelines from the refineries. so i paid a glorious $2.52/gal today for 93 octane high-test :P
